Ghanaian midfielder Ebenezer Ofori will return to German Bundesliga side VFB Stuttgart after MLS club New York City FC failed to give him a permanent contract.
Ofori joined the Bronx based-side in February this year with an option to buy but he will return to his parent club despite making 27 league appearances scoring one goal
NYCFC officially released a Press Statement on Thursday that Ofori, fellow Ghanaian Kwame Awuah and seven others will leave the club as their options for contract extension have been declined.
“Contract options declined: Tommy McNamara, Maxime Chanot, Rodney Wallace, Ebenezer Ofori, Eloi Amagat, Kwame Awuah and Andre Rawls.
Contract options exercised: Daniel Bedoya, Jeff Caldwell, Sebastien Ibeagha and Brad Stuver.
Out of contract: Yangel Herrera, Saad Abdul-Salaam, David Villa,” a section of the statement read.
Ofori, 23, has previously featured for Ghanaian side New Edubiase as well as Swedish champions AIK.
