Ghana Cedi is NOT Acceptable in China.

Setting the Records Straight.

Vindictiveness, rationalization and witch hunting are the reasons why Ghana finds herself in the current economic state. Why our able brothers Mr. Kwabena Adom and Nana Antwi ll should be chased after by the honorable deputy ambassador Mr. Horace Nii Ayi Ankrah? Did he have any intention for writing boldly that “Ghana Cedis is accepted in China? We thought he said it’s for the benefit of Ghana and Ghanaians who trade in China?

If the above questions are true, then why is Mr. Ankrah chasing after the innocent sons of Ghana who helped him to set the records straight? According to his rejoinder, he stated that “it is unfortunate that my excitement to see a restaurant in Guangzhou, China accepting the cedi be misconstrued as propaganda” Mr. Ankrah then used the opportunity to further explained that it is ONLY BUT ONE restaurant in Guangzhou that accept the cedi which is against his earlier assertion that “The Ghana cedi has made its mark in Guangzhou city and is now accepted by RESTAURANT(S) in the Chinese city” (Accra, Jan, 19, GNA).

Mr. Ankrah also stated that, “this follows NEGOTIATIONS that had existed between Ghana and the China in the past days to accept the Ghanaian currency”. The statement went on to say that “Mr. Horace Nii Ayi Ankrah, Deputy Ambassador to China during a two day working visit to Guangzhou BRIEFED THE MANAGEMENT OF THE BUSINESS entities of the advantages of accepting the cedi in a trading city like Guangzhou”(Accra, Jan, 19, GNA).

In our opinion, these two statements are in sharp contradictions to the rejoinder pasted (Accra, Jan, 23, GNA). However we believe that our brothers and sisters who come to China for buying purposes will not carry their monies in cedi denomination with the hope that the cedi is acceptable in Guangzhou, China. It has also become clear that, the single restaurant that accepts the cedi is NOT as a result of ANY NEGOTIONS, rather it is the management of the restaurants own decision based on their regular visit to Ghana.

We now want to state here that, we have gathered enough evidence to prove that Mr. Horace Nii Ayi Ankrah, Deputy Ambassador to China is seriously chasing after our brothers Mr. Kwabena Adom and Nana Antwi ll for reasons known to him alone. We as Ghanaians and residents of China want to assure Mr. Ankrah that, we will stand by our brothers in this fight. We will seek for stronger hands which can fight him (Mr. Ankrah) from the international organizations like UN and others when the need arises.

We also want to state here again that Ghana Cedi is NOT Acceptable in China, and that whoever is coming to China should change his or her money into either US Dollars or the Chinese Yuan. We also want to commit our brothers Mr. Kwabena Adom, Teacher in Guangzhou and Nana Antwi ll, Student Qingdao into his protection as an ambassador just as he stated in his rejoinder. We are well aware that, our brothers are of good standing with required working and study visas for more than half a decade. We therefore hope that our honorable ambassador will NOT let anything happen to their visas or their personalities.
