Ghana The Beautiful

Fri, 12 Mar 2010 Source: The Royal Enoch

Sunlight and golden beaches

Spacious skies ever blue

Mellow breeze that whispers gently

Exalted mountains reaching high heavens

Glorious trees with leafs of myrrh

Streaming rivers of life ever flowing

Children with happy faces glowing

While the good times keep on rolling

Nappy hairs and dark skin tones

Graveyards safe keeping our ancestors bones

Empty castles filled with past horrors

Brothers who sold their own

To strangers who had no souls

To devils in human disguise

Whose tongues were painted with lies

In return for what nobody knows

Tomorrow's children with yesterday's eyes

Elderly folks with juvenile hearts

Still dancing to high-life music

While the young sway to hip-life

Mothers with babies on their backs

Traders carrying their loads on their heads

Backwards never they say

Forward ever with no delay

Ghana the Land of Yaa Asantewaa

Ghana the Land of Dr Kwame Nkrumah

Ghana the Land of J B Danquah

Ghana the Land of my birth and death

Ghana the Land of many contradictions

Ghana the Land of gold

Ghana the Land of black gold

Ghana my soul sanctuary

Ghana the beautiful
