Greed Destroys

One of the primary businesses of mankind is to know and find the road of a happy life. It is every man’s dream, wish and design and yet not even one of a thousand knows where to locate happiness and what it consists. We all live life, however in a blind pursuit of it, and the more haste we make in a wrong way, the further we are from our journey’s end.

I vehemently doubt if any of the religious’ dogma in Ghana teaches that greed is the road to a happy life, yet most of my fellow countrymen are filled this abstract called “GREED”.                                                           As I write contemplatively, I seem convinced that neither the Christian dogma, Islam, Buddhist, Stoics, The Witness dogma and many others; not even people who live life free mindedly would encourage greed.

Greed, is the principal ‘macho’ behind the countless corrupt practices we see parading on the streets, offices, ministries, churches and all other places; yet, Ghana is a religious country, believe it or not. Greed has carefully and consciously penetrated and transcended into our hearts making us believe anything talked about as quick and fast means of enriching oneself.

Lets educate ourselves here, a financial company sprang up when most of us were not born ‘PIRAM’ was its name. It succeeded in making most of our fathers, mothers, siblings and neighbours bankrupt; why? Because of greed, and is like my fellow countrymen are never history conscious.

Not too ago, another one by name ‘Onward Investment Ltd’ glaringly duped a lot of people and the case is still being debated in the court of laws. The most recent of all these is the ‘Unique Shepherd’ (US) Tilapia Farms which received a greater hype and an exaggerated campaign from the media. Only to realize that it was a dupery scheme project in Ghana. Not forgetting the several micro finances fraud which Ghanaians have suffered and are suffering from, as I write this manuscript.

But, we must always remember that “the world is not lived father Christmas manner’ in other words, things are not too much for free in this world. It is only a dishonest and a greedy mind that thinks that the money he holds can be doubled and tripled in a limited space of time.

In this age of high leveled unemployment, young people have clung into finding easy means of living. Do not be lured by the power of greed to believe;

When you are approached with a box and inside the box, they tell you, it contains dirty unwashed dollars. They further convince you to buy a chemical to wash up the purported dollars. Do not believe it, it’s a scam.

Religious leaders, when someone calls you on phone, promises you of money, suits, musical instruments and further request of you to send money through ‘mobile money’. Don’t believe in haste but procure for yourself some level of time and investigate to knowing the very truth.

When a man rushes to you and pressurizes you to put off your phone to be freed from a natural explosion, take caution; it is one the new tricks designed. They are only preventing you from receiving a call from an ‘operation’ they may be carrying in your house or amongst your close neighbours, relatives or friends.

Be careful of the numerous money doubling schemes you hear on radio and don’t buy into their catchy, oiled and icy words too quick. Nothing is for free in this world.

In my full glare eye, I observed a scene where young national service persons paid for goods far below their original prices and were asked to come for them the following week, only to realize that it was a scam. Let us all know that being filled with the power of greed will always lead us astray.

Finally, let’s remember that he who lives life according to reason shall never be poor; and he that governs his life by opinion, speculation and greed shall never be rich.
