Ernest Thompson, former Hearts of Oak Board Secretary, has blamed poor managerial decisions and instability for Hearts of Oak’s current poor run of form in the 2015/16 Ghana Premier League (GPL) season.
The Phobians have not won any of their last six league games with their best result being three drawn matches and, their recent 3-0 humiliating defeat against Bechem United saw their league title chase blown off.
Thompson, who was a leading member of the club’s legal department in an interview with Happy FM, said the team’s abysmal performance can be attributed to nothing than ‘instability’.
He said; “As a fan of the club, I remain loyal to the club. Though not a board member as before, I remain a fan. Hearts is suffering from instability and that has had adverse effect on the team’s performance on the field of play.
“If you look at the various components of the team – the management and coaching department, there’s so much instability. Cast your mind back to the number of coaches the team has had [numerous] for a while now.
“The sacking of Kenichi, obviously has negatively affected the rhythm of the team. The same players who did so well under the previous coach, are the ones who appear lost under the new one [Coach Sergio Traguil].
He added; “He (Sergio) being a new coach has also affected the team as he needs time to bond with the players and for the players to understand his philosophy too and that is why in football, it is rare to see a club change manager half-way through the season.”
