Former Black Stars player Mohammed Ahmed Polo has branded Kevin Prince Boateng as unpatriotic.
The former Accra Hearts of Oak winger’s comments come in the wake of K.P. Boateng’s latest injury which has ruled him out of the crucial World Cup playoff against Egypt.
“I have spoken about this boy for quite a long time now and it looks very clear that he (KP Boateng) is not patriotic,” Polo told XYZ sports.
“However, your mother looks like, she is still your mother and you can’t change her. Sometimes I am made to doubt if this boy is a true Ghanaian,” he added.
“Despite the fact that he was born to Ghanaian parents I think he is not behaving like one. He wasn’t known until we gave him the platform in the 2010 World Cup but he doesn’t want to reciprocate that love by playing for Ghana,” he said.
The 27-year-old, who joined German side Schalke 04 last month, is yet to play for Ghana since his return to the Stars team after almost three years of absence. Kevin did not feature for the team after failing a late fitness test before the game against Zambia in Kumasi.
The former Tottenham player picked up another setback over the weekend and makes him unavailable for the first leg tie in Kumasi next week.
Kevin has continuously complained about the quality of the pitch at the Kumasi Stadium and pundits believe that could have influenced his decision to opt out of the game.
Polo tells XYZ Sports that the player’s behavior is a clear sign of an unpatriotic citizen of the land and should be sacked from the team.
“How many times will we (Ghana) be watching as he stays away from matches in Kumasi? Polo quizzed.
“Twice in a row he has opted to stay out of the team and how long are we going to condone such a behavior. I think enough is enough and we must sack him from the team because he can’t choose the matches he wants to play period,” he added.
