Ghanaian Highlife musician, Ofori Amponsah has said he would advise ex-president John Dramani Mahama not to contest the 2020 elections.
In an interview with Happy FM, the multiple VGMA award winner posited that he does not understand the rationale behind Mahama’s unexpected comeback as he needs to step aside for another person to take over.
“If I were him, I will not contest again. He has done too much for us, he should rather be behind and push others. Those advising him are different but if I were to advise him, he should channel his energy and knowledge to helping the young ones. That’s my opinion but if he thinks he has an unfinished job and wants to continue, that is in the hands of Ghanaians." he added
Somewhere last year, former President John Dramani Mahama announced that he is seeking a second shot at the presidency because he believes he owes a duty to God and the country to do so.
John Mahama’s declaration ends months of speculation about his intention to make a comeback.
