Imagine

Imagine if there had been no coup d'etat in 1966

And president Kwame Nkrumah had stayed in power

Imagine if the United States had assisted Ghana

Instead of sabotaging Nkrumah's development plans

Imagine if J.B Danquah had advised Dr Kwame Nkrumah

As one would expect from a concerned brother

Imagine if we all could be back in 1957

The year which taught us that all things are possible

For a moment-the whole world tuned in to watch Ghana

Ghana-the beautiful, brave, proud, and free

Imagine if Rawlings had not seized power by force

And Dr Hilla Limann had stayed on his course

Would Ghana have been better off

Or would Ghana have been worser off

Imagine if our skilled men and women had stayed

As opposed to seeking greener pastures somewhere foreign

Would Ghana have been better developed

Or would the country have remained the same

Imagine if our education system led to job creation

How many people would've been left unemployed

Imagine if our doctors and teachers were getting properly paid

And our idle military men and women were sent farming

Instead of waiting for a war to break which would never break

Imagine if all the mosques and churches were turned into factories

Would anybody pray to God for help after that

Imagine if there were no political parties in Ghana

No NDC

No NPP

No CPP

Just you and I taking care of our business

You may say that I am dreamer

But I am not the only one

I hope someday you would join us

And Ghana would be beautiful

Brave

Proud

And free again
