Ghana is a nation endowed with so many good things. Of brain power the Ghanaian is greatly endowed. Material wealth, the vastness is unparalleled. Sunlight and Wind is in abundance that no amount of utilisation or exploitation can near the height of volumes. Above all these is that Ghana is placed at the heart of the world where the Greenwich Meridian and the Equator crosses at some 14km into the sea from Tema.

Why and how Ghana is in despite all these endowments is in its current socio-politico-economic quagmire, only the Character of the Ghanaian can tell. As the renowned Music Writer and Composer, Dr Ephraim Amu succinctly put:

This is our land of birth, precious and dear to us

Won for us by the toil and blood of our forebears

It's our turn to also build on what we have inherited

Vile, Lies, and hypocrisy have led us to our present woes

If we can redeem ourselves, redeem the nation, and march forward

Then our character and conduct of lives would tell it all.

Ghana thus need men and women of candour, respectfulness, courage and zeal as well as the willingness to work for Ghana. We must make Ghana work again. Ghana has worked for her citizens before and she can work again.

The greatest want of the country is the want of men – men who will not be bought or sold, men who in their inmost souls are true and honest, men who do not fear to call wrong by its right name, men whose conscience is as true to duty as the needle is to the pole, men who will stand for the right though the heavens fall.

But such a character is not the result of accident; it is not due to special favours or endowments of Providence. A noble character is the result of self-discipline, of the subjection of the lower to the higher nature – the surrender of self for the service of love to God and man.

Ghana is dire need of true men who won't only truthful to themselves but also God and Country. It must start with the number one gentleman of the land. The President's uprightness must go beyond just the Constitutional dictate of the he being above reproach in the Public's eye. He must be at peace within himself as to the conduct of office and also sincere in his dealing with others.

We have a beautiful country and we can all collectively make it a better place to be for each and every one. Patriots will not come from the skies or the moon. They must be raised from among us. We need to deliberately work towards identifying the right persons among us who have shown the capacity to lift themselves above the greed and thievery and place them in positions of influence.

YES! We can make Ghana work again. Let's get to work. The search is on for Patriots, can you be counted?
