A professional policeman or woman is the one who respects the ethics of their policing profession. They are those who when the occasion obliges them; do exercise their discretion in a mannered and most responsible way, giving no room for people to question their integrity.
Police personnel are the custodians of the law in any civilized democratic societies. When they become law unto themselves, erratically breaching the very laws they are employed to sanctimoniously uphold, then the safety of the society is compromised. Once they do that, it means they have failed to demonstrate their integrity.
The police are not there to be at the beck and call of one individual, prostrating to that single individual even when he or she is acting irresponsibly criminally. They are there to protect the collective interests of the general public – protection of life, prevention of crime and protection of property. This is the basic duty of the police. Additionally, they need to be fair, firm and friendly bearing in mind that the law applies to everyone and it is for everyone.
Honesty, sincerity and trustworthiness are the defining qualities that make one a policeman or woman of integrity. These characters are the pivots on which the police must normally revolve.
However, is Ashanti Regional Police Commander Kofi Boakye being fair, firm and friendly? If my opinion is sought at this moment, I shall say he is not. He is not behaving professionally, but capriciously under the manipulative magical wand of Asantehene and the dubiously enstooled Kumawuhene, Barimah Sarfo Tweneboah Koduah (Dr Yaw Sarfo). Kumawuman public in their overwhelming majority have rejected the enthronement of Dr Yaw Sarfo.
The police have no duty interfering in chieftaincy issues. Should there be any misunderstanding between royals regarding who is to become the chief as it is now the case in Kumawu, it is the court that decides but not the police. Police Commander Kofi Boakye should take note of this fact.
Why has he unprofessionally colluded with Asantehene and Kumawuhemaa to take sides in the Kumawu stool dispute? As long as people are not fighting and Kumawuman not degenerated into warring factions following the enthronement of Barimah Tweneboah Koduah V, a true royal of matrilineal lineage to Barimah Tweneboah Koduah I, the originator of Kumawu Koduah Stool, P.C. Kofi Boakye and his biased men have nothing doing in Kumawu and Bodomase.
If he has chosen to stand solidly behind Asantehene, doing his dirty biddings, I am afraid he stands to lose his respect same as his master has lost his, only to be ridiculed in public and in the media. Asantehene is the most disgraced and most insulted person or chief in Ghana. Have you paused a moment to find out why his own Ashanti subjects are always among the first to take him to the cleaners? He is insatiably greedy, reaping from where he has not sown.
By our Kumawu history, Asantehene has no traditional or constitutional right to impose anyone on us as our Omanhene. Please get this message right once and for all. I published an open letter to you on Ghanaweb.com, Modernghana.com and Spyghana.com. Would you mind going back to the mentioned websites to read it? It will give you vivid insight into Asantehene's actions, plans and ultimate intentions. If at all there is anyone to be arrested, it is your master to whom you prostrate at the crack of his fingers.
Bear in mind that you are there to serve Ghana and the collective interests of Ghanaians or Ashantis, but not the selfish interests of a single criminal who is bent on exploiting the vulnerable in society to the hilt. People are watching you and I shall inform the public of whatever goes on in Kumawu, my place of birth.
Mind you, you will be deceiving yourself if you think Asantehene can help you to become the future Inspector of Police (IGP) by bowing down to him, executing all his requests to you without thinking deeply about their repercussions to society.
For your information, Asantehene has never been mandated to impose people on Kumawuman as their Omanhene by any known or unknown traditions and laws. You, the police, are rather creating tension in Kumawu in order to give you an excuse, although silly as it may be, to arrest innocent people in Kumawuman. Whatever your dubious secret plans about Kumawuman and her popularly enthroned chief (Barimah Tweneboah Koduah V) are, you will never succeed in those evil enterprises.
