Many people live in marriages where sex is rare or non-existent. Often, it is the women who refuse to have intercourse with their husbands at some point or Age. Both Christianity and Islam prohibit illicit sexual relations, premarital sex, fornication, adultery and prostitution.

It is for this reason that a wife is BOUND by the Scriptures and Society to satisfy the husband's sexual desires and vice versa to prevent extra marital affairs. In Quran 2:187, Allah says “They (your wives) are your garments and you are also their garments".

In Corinthians 7: 3-4, it is said "The husband should give to his wife her conjugal rights and likewise the wife to the husband. The wife has no authority over her own body but the husband has and vice versa". Prophet Muhammad said “If a husband calls his wife to his bed and she refuses without CONVINCING reasons (except for illness and menstruation) and causes him to sleep in anger, the Angels will curse her till morning.

Further, Allah is displeased with her until her husband is pleased with her". The scriptures say “no refusal “to marital sex unless MUTUALLY agreed and that whoever refuses is sinning and incurs the wrath of God. The Prophet said that there is reward in marital sex and that each act earns the couple a reward equivalent to the performance of 70 nawafil (voluntary) prayers. Sex is natural and central in marriage and its absence causes rancour in the marriage.

In extreme cases, some women have been killed for denying their husbands sex. Marriages can be legally annulled where marital intercourse is rare or unavailable. If married couples are committed to the sacred institution of marriage, it is their duty, responsibility and interest to fully cooperate in matters of sexual intercourse for peace and happiness to prevail in marital homes.

Couples who fear the chastisement of the Lord, should mutually strive at all times to satisfy each other sexually. A Husband should work to prepare his wife psychologically and physically with love, romance and interest to submit happily to his sexual advances.

May Allah touch the hearts and minds of wives to go the Extra mile to always be there to satisfy the sexual desires of their husbands.

May we continue to walk in the ways of the Lord.
