It's always great when I hear new record labels emerge in our music industry. Zylofon media owned by Nana Appiah Mensah announced their presence in the music industry with the signing of highlife musician Kumi Guitar.
The newly born record label extended it's tentacles with the signings of internationally recognized songstress;Becca and cemented their preparedness into the music game with a sublimed signing of BET award winner Stonebwoy.
Eversince they signed Stonebwoy, majority of Ghana’s entertainment media practitioners have questioned why they were not able to reveal the exact content of the contract as compared to when the company signed Kumi Guitar, where they gave all the necessary details of the five-year contract, including a sign-on fee of $100,000, 3/4 bedroom house and a Hyundia Sonata 2016 model.
This has led to many wondering if it was even necessary to tell the public that there was a deal at all. But as an Online News surgeon, am not interested in delineating whether Zylofon Media should've revealed the content of the contract with Stonebwoy or not.
What am interested in is that are they in the industry to reignite the era in which record labels were sabotaging each other in the industry?I hope they are not going to remind us about Agiecoat and Goodies Music productions.
Okay, let's take a retrospective look at what Agiecoat and Goodies did to our music industry. Both Agiecoat and Goodies music productions were owned by travel and tour companies who were only interested in signing our poor musicians in order to use them as Visa Slaves.
Buk Bak (Rest in Peace Ronnie Coaches),TicTac,Sydney,Kontihene,VIP were among the numerous musicians signed by these record labels. ' Fine ,they were able to promote them well but never had the interest of the music industry at heart.Since they were magnanimously interested in making an artiste popular so they can use them to acquire Visas, they used ‘Mafia’ systems by paying DJs and radio presenters huge sums of money just to sabotage other record labels.
They bought cars, lands and in some instances bought some DJs and presenters houses in order to help them achieve their selfish deeds. They really depredated our music industry. But karma paid them fondly.
Today when you mention the names of Agiecoat and Goodies record labels, those artistes they managed would attest that they are really the reasons why our industry is still crawling when should've rather beaten Hussain Bolt at the just ended Olympic Games.
In this regard, as a plausible Online News Surgeon,my humble question is, what are the intents of Zylofon Media? Looking at how they are hurriedly signing all the big artistes rather than nurturing upcoming ones, do they really have the industry at heart or they want to use these signings as a cover up to their side businesses? Are they hiding something?
Well, before Zylofon media came into existence, there was a certain NKZ music owned by a certain young man by name Ray Moni. This young man has single handedly managed the label so well that NKZ was the only recognized record label who recently signed Wutah after managing Guru for the past Ten years.
Oh yes, Slip music slipped and fell into the Korley lagoon a decade ago,Speech music became speechless after going through heart breaks, Kwame Miki Production died dreadfully after producing Osei Bonsu’s Kojootor’ hit song, Frimprince went into production of gospel music awaiting for the hour of grace and Big Ben music production who also couldn’t stand the 'mafia work' is now selling mobile Phones with crooks at circle.
In short, what am implying is, all these record labels are not in existence simply because of how they sabotaged themselves.
So Sammy Flex, as the PRO, please educate me on this, is the name Zylofon Media or Zylofon Mafia? because if the name is Zylofon Media, i wouldn't want to think the name of the record label is going to change to Zylofon 'Mafia' by sabotaging NKZ music and other record labels who are also doing their best in order to make our industry grow.
