In America, Australia and currently in Britain to become a citizenship there is an established ceremonial process for citizenship ceremony.
What is Ghana’s criterion of becoming a Ghanaian citizenship?
What information would one need to bring for citizenship ceremony? Is it the following?
• their Home Office approval letter • their invitation letter issued by the County Council • some form of identity (passport, travel document, driving licence, a current utility bill, medical card, bankcard and finally a police check information)
In the countries identified what really happen during the ceremony are as follows:
• Introduction and Welcome • Address by local dignitary • Taking or affirming of the Oath and Pledge • Official response • Presentation of Citizenship certificate and signing of the Register
Should Ghana as a nation also be smart to go along this form approach to embrace foreigners who wish to become Ghanaians to go through a similar process?
Should we also ensure that the individual have a training or induction about our cultural heritage, learn of a local language of their choice citizenship rights and information.
Would be about time, Ghana also tightened its process in the selection of who comes into our country, and money they need to bring with them to for that given period of their stay. These days every country is tightening its regulations in the area of immigration and we also needs to follow the trend to stay with our competitors.
