The president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, is fast becoming Ghana’s most intolerant and autocratic leader, since 1992.

He has been presiding over a government bazaar for his family, aides, friends, and associates, adding yet another dimension to his growing list of egregiously offensive conduct, abuses of office, lawlessness and insecurity, are the mountain of corruption that is trailing his young administration.

The president in flagrant disregard to the voice of the people of Madina, who through their representative at the assembly, rejected Jennifer Dede Afagbedzi, as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for La Nkwantanang-Madina Municipal Assembly, has re-nominated her for another shot at the post.

Governance is not a game of chance, it is not a trial and error, it is a serious business involving the lives, survival and security of millions of Ghanaians.

The president should have asked himself, why she out of 13 people, only four voted for her.

Madina is too big and too diverse for someone, who does not understand the dynamics and any attempt to foist her on the people, through compromising the assembly members, will not auger well for the municipality. The president, who seems asleep, was expected to act after her outright rejection, but he did not and has rather decided to promote corruption.

Should she be given the nod, it stands to reason that, the assembly members have been compromised.

This is no rocket science, the times we live in and the reports across the country indicate how money has changed hands before some of his nominees got the nod.

To the nominees, it is an investment they wish to reap the returns the moment they settle into office. The New Patriotic Party, has promised that by 2018, preparations will be made for the election of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), those who are getting rejected now, stand no chance of winning the election, should they contest. They have also invested to get elected, so the one or two years that, they will get in office; will be to recoup their investment.

The Assembly Members of Madina, have another date with destiny, will they sell their conscience or remain truth to it as they did the first time.
