John Mahama – Nana Gaddafi II

Then disaster struck and it was a great calamity. To be referred to as the BEACON of Democracy meant that nothing short of goodwill for dignified survival would be the measure, yet the voices of the free people of Ghana were stifled; stifled at the ballot boxes in the December 2012 General Elections by transpositional, technical, human and clerical ERRORS. The whole country stood on ends and stability seemed to shake but a clear voice crackled in the midst of all the tension; the voice of an illustrious son of the Land, whose Pedigree is one of giving, giving and giving to Ghana, broke the ice that engulfed our country, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. This Honourable man said “NO” to violence and asked all his faithfuls to ebb the flow of anger. In effect, Nana Akufo-Addo brought PEACE to Ghana. Since the election petition hit the Supreme Court, all we have heard from the very undemocratic adversaries were unhelpful statements that challenged the superiority and wisdom of the LEGAL PUNDITS of justice, their Lordships the Justices; antagonistic statements that insinuated chaos, strife and war; statements that desecrated the title of “THE BEACON OF DEMOCRACY”, a title that, hitherto, crowned our Dear Nation, Ghana. The worst situation was created by John Mahama when after Nana Akufo-Addo vowed to accept the verdict of the Supreme Court, however it went, remained callously mute for a long time. He never made mention of any such acceptance until he was interviewed on one of his International trips, Turkey if my memory serves me right, and even then it was a shy and heavy-hearted acceptance, albeit angrily put.

Eccentricity has many instances and one instance is to behave with nonchalance amidst blazes, economic turmoil, strikes and National bankruptcy. It is no wonder that after experiencing the might of Power, John Mahama is beginning to believe that his Presidency was by divine consent, Divine Ordinance as he would prefer to call it. As if moving from church to church playing Neo-Jesus is not blasphemous enough, he has instructed his hooligans to beat the drums of war on Fm stations; “we are inviting civil war”, there will be civil war”, “we are ready to fight”, “we shall never hand over power should the SC rule in favour of Nana Akufo-Addo”, “John Mahama will rule his mandate and get another four years too”, “NPP will be in opposition for a long time, “ we will support a coup if Nana Akufo-Addo is declared President” and all that, in sheer CONTEMPT OF THE SUPREME COURT. WHAT!!! Have these people forgotten that there is only one Ghana in this world? Has John Mahama forgotten that it was the wisdom of our forefathers that maintained PEACE and STABILITY that he came to find (post independence – the YOUTH phenomenon)? Some of his “scamps-de-aide” did not experience the trauma that Ghanaians went through in the crazy days of the AFRC (1979) and PNDC (1981-1992) either because they escaped with their families or were not even born then.

I can never forget the elderly who were drilled on the hot roads at midday because of a nice car that they drove or better clothes that they wore. My Father was a struggling poultry farmer whose chicken did not escape the tragedy of the long thieving hands of the mutineers; hmm, and we endured the hardship of hunger because there was no food. Meat, flour, sugar, milk and all essentials, were such scarce commodities that selling any at slightly higher prices invoked the death penalty. I remember as a 14 year old boy, I would go to the mill with my Father to grind maize for the chicken, out of which he would take some home, for bread and food, and even then we were counted lucky as some families went without a square meal for days on end; people were, actually, fainting on the streets due to acute hunger and if you ever found a chicken that weighed more than 700 gms then it was deemed to be on doses of cortisone.

An ancient Greek scholar,Cicero, once said, “not to know what took place before you were born is to remain a child forever”, hence my little narration of history, then callous youngsters who know no meaning to strife and attach no significance to survival because they worry not, someone is dishing money out to them, spew all manner of inconsistent and repugnant rubbish in a vile effort to suppress and intimidate the Lordships of the Supreme Court, incite resistance in the hearts of John Mahama’s reducing supporters and sedition amongst the masses.

John Mahama’s lust for Power surpasses his lust for other kinds of INDULGENCE!!! This is very much reminiscent of the attitude of the late Libyan Leader Col Mu’ammar Al Gaddafi. His thirst for power was so insatiable that he paid billions of US Dollars to make Kings in Africa concede and crown him as the “KING OF AFRICAN KINGS” and that is so similar to the seeming power drunkenness of John Mahama. By attributing to GOD what no one can determine but GOD is a gross violation of and blasphemy against GOD and that is a catalyst for one disaster after another, hence fire here, fire there, fire, fire everywhere!

John Mahama, I admonish you to stop fretting and rather concentrate on your work for now; you have a colossal load of problems, bedevilling Ghana, to carry. You lied about the end of the electricity supply crisis (“dumsor dumsor” as referred to in our local vernacula), time and time again; you lied about the economic gains under your administration, time and time again (last week’s IMF report puts Ghana’s staggering debt at $48 Billion USD); you lied about the judgment debts which you feigned knowledge of, time and time again; you lied about maintenance of steady fuel prices, time and time again (I need not remind you that you are increasing fuel again for the third consecutive time since January this year); you lied about the restoration of sanity to the water shortages, time and time again (I do not remember the last time water flowed through the main pipes at my home); you lied about the demise of late president Atta Mills, time and time again (different scenarios were disseminated to the public, thinking that we are fools); you lied about the infrastructure repairs and construction, time and time again (I refer you to the Ashiaman upheaval last week) and you continue to lie about everything.

Is this not what Gaddafi did to the Libyans? The whole World was made to believe that he had turned Libya into Heaven on earth and that Libyans would never be found wanting; he even claimed that he was not interested in power but the Libyans would have none other, and all that was a farce; who was he misleading?

I am just reminding you that ever since time immemorial, man has refused barbarism, oppression and suppression; that the doom of man is embedded in his own actions and that man’s wickedness could outgrow his might and spell his END.

Please, come with some decorum and solve our problems, which I doubt you can, and if it is deemed that you are not the rightful winner of the December 2012 elections, so be it, all you have to do is STEP DOWN and PEACE will prevail. The Lordships of the Supreme Court would not allow you to destroy our country, WE HAVE NOWHERE TO GO!!!

TREAT GHANA WELL. IT WAS NOT GIVEN TO YOU BY YOUR PARENTS BUT TEMPORARILY ENTRUSTED INTO YOUR HANDS, ALBEIT DISAPPOINTNGLY.
