Accra, Nov. 4, GNA - President John Agyekum Kufuor on Tuesday said economic prospects between Ghana and China were developing very fast and business links between both countries would be utilised for closer and stronger friendship and co-operation due to Ghana's geographical position in the world.

He said goods produced in Ghana had quick access not only to the West African market but all the relevant markets in Europe and the United States (US).

President Kufuor made these observations when a seven-man Chinese Economic Delegation paid a courtesy call on him at the Castle, Osu. He said Government's commitment for an efficient and effective socio-economic development required strong partners and China must be one of these partners to lay the needed strong modern infrastructure for development.

President Kufuor said Ghanaians were kind and friendly, learn very fast and tolerate each other but this had been a weakness in the country's slow development because most of the past Governments took advantage and mismanaged the economy.

Mr Li Weizhao, Chairman of the CNT Group (Holdings) of China, who led the delegation, said the Company was interested in investing in the energy, transportation and the telecommunications sectors.

He said with Ghana's geographical position and the prevailing investment climate it could become the first and best commercial country on the African continent.

Mr Li said the Company was determined to export Chinese technology to all parts of the world through co-operation.
