Kufuor Disproves Einstein?s Theory
Albert Einstein defined Insanity as doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
During the on-going, but apparently never-ending cabinent reshuffle, President Kufuor repeated what he?s been doing over the last six years. He also repeated mistakes our past presidents and dictators have done over the past 49 years. However, surprisingly Kufuor's administration expects a different result this time around.
- Created 3 ministries, while one would have sufficed: A ministry for Transport, another one for Aviation and yet one more for Ports and Harbors. Don't all these ministries deal with transport, whether local or foreign, sea, road, or air?
- Keeps two ministries; while one would have been enough: We have a Ministry of food and agriculture and a separate ministry for fisheries. Is fish not food?
- Resurrection of Communism: Ministry of national orientation? Hello!!! The cold war is over and Mao, Lenin and Castro lost. According to Kwamena Bartels, this ministry will seek to encourage Ghanaians to look out for the national interest before anything else. Great, why don?t you start by advising (a)Kufuor to reduce his per diem (b) ministers & MPs to pay for thier fuel like all working citizens do (c) banks to stop granting $6m loans to unknown businessmen to buy a hotel (d) Anane to stop using state time and resources for his sexcapades
- Separated two inter-dependent ministries: Where in the world, in 2006 AD, will any reasonable human want to separate Information from Communication? The term ICT (Information, Communication and Technology) was coined to signify the interdependence of these fields. The borders are really blurred, but probably so is our president?s advisors.
- No result, change the name and move on: What happened to the ?Modernization of the Capital? appendage to the Ministry of Tourism? Has the capital undergone the full cycle of modernization? Interestingly, ?Diasporan Relations? has displaced this term and gone to bed with the term ?Tourism?. The job description is still unknown, but what can this portfolio do differently from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the foreign missions?
- No Lessons from 9/11: After Osama?s attack, the USA wised up and put the FBI, CIA etc under one roof. Kufuor has taken the opoosite route ? Interior, defence and National security have all been kept apart
- Setting up Temporal Ministry: Public Sector Reforms Ministry should be a department in a ministry. Reform is a temporal phenomenon. If our aim is to reform forever, then God have mercy on us.
- Keeping Damaged Goods: Dr. Anane could not tell a commission how much he earns monthly, because according to him, his salary keeps changing. This minister doesn?t know his salary and did not know that his bosom friend remitted US$72,000 (?700 million) to his lover. What else does he not know? His job, maybe?
I am 100% certain our dear President is NOT insane, i.e he is a rational, responsible and hardworking individual.
Conclusion
Einstein was wrong with his insanity definition.
