The "Baby With Sharp Teeth", Kwakye Ofosu Seeking Advice From NPP For The NDC
A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) communications team, "a baby with a sharp teeth" Felix Kwakye Ofosu is now seeking advice from the NPP for the NDC about how they can revive the collapsing National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS). He can't understand why the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is politically very much concerned about the current collapsing state of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
The novice Kwakye-Ofosu described the NPP's conduct as an "opportunistic intervention" adding that the opposition party just wants to play on the emotions of Ghanaians. Meanwhile it's the NDC who is playing on the Health of the Ghanaian people, making the NHIS regardless and effective less. The NHIS identity card is seen throughout the Hospitals and Clinics in Ghana as a mere piece of useless plastic card. Why? Simply because the Hospitals and clinics in the country are not paid by the NDC Government for their services rendered to holders of the NHIS identity cards.
The NPP in a statement signed by its Communication Director, Nana Akomea bemoaned what it says is the mismanagement of its flagship health policy by the Mahama-led government. The statement said the threat by health care providers not to attend to NHIS cardholders due to nonpayment of claims by government has resulted to the collapse and needless suffering of the people under the scheme.
In a round discussion on Asempa FM's Ekosii Sen programme Monday, Felix Kwakye-Ofosu started talking aimlessly without any reasonable fact, climbing on the NPP, whipping them here and there saying the NHIS under the NDC is vibrant as ever. I am cock sure Kwakye Ofosu is not very conversant with the word "vibrant", because almost all health care providers in the country are refusing to accept the NHIS cards, a move which can be very dangerous for most Ghanaian people.
According to Kwakye Ofosu, the scheme has grown in membership from 8 million in 2008 to 25 million under the NDC. What sense that it make to the 25 million members holding empty and useless NHIS cards? "It is just like someone standing in the rain with an umbrella but cannot unfold it.”
Kwakye Ofosu, "the blind man owing a mirror", conceding that there are sometimes delay in the payment of claims, blamed the development on bureaucracy at the various agencies in the NDC Government in charge and lamented "In every human institution there are bottlenecks but government is doing all it can to ensure delays in the payment of claims do not recur".
At the good end the novice NDC floor member, Felix Kwakye Ofosu who indirectly sought an effective advice from the NPP for the NDC, observed that NPP should also propose a cogent solution to the problem.
I can't really get it, why the NDC should engage somebody like Kwakye Ofosu, (who makes no sense and in most cases use to insulting political opponents) in his communication team.
