LIVE UPDATE: Morocco vs Ivory Coast (2019 AFCON)

Hello good afternoon and thanks for staying with us for the second game of today.

The games are coming in thick and fast but they are high-quality games so we are not complaining.

The Al-Salam Stadium is set to host the next round of matches in Group D of the ongoing 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

The Atlas Lions of Morocco come up against The Elephants of Ivory Coast in a crunchy game which can determine who tops the group ahead before the last group game.

With a victory already recorded for both teams in their early encounter in the tournament, a win for any team will see them join the likes of Nigeria, Egypt and Algeria in the last 16.

Former coach of Ivory Coast, Herve Renard would be at the centre of attention as he seeks to overcome a team he managed to win his second AFCON in 2015. His lads however secured a slim win in their first game when Namibia’s Itamunua Keimuine scored an own goal.

The Ivorians, on the other hand, have enjoyed a good run under coach Ibrahim Kamara winning seven games out of 10 including their first game win over the South Africans.

The two teams have met on 9 occasions with 3 of the games ending in stalemates.

The Atlas have enjoyed two consecutive wins whiles the Elephants have joggled in between four wins in their previous outings.

The 10th game is however important and more crucial as it gives the winner the upper hand in qualifying to the next round even before the third game.

In the other game of the day in Group D, Namibia would square it off against the South Africans, both teams are in dire need of a point after recording defeats in their opening games.
