Letter From The President: Needless assembly

Sat, 20 Jan 2007 Source: J. A. Fukuor/Daily Dispatch

Countrymen and women, loyalists and opponents, once again we have held a very successful people’s assembly – a theatre for presidential adulation. This time it was in Sunyani and man did people turn up for the show? If my memory serves me right, I wrote last year that the people’s assembly has lost its relevance and usefulness and should therefore be scrapped. Well, I have changed my mind. It should not be scrapped. We should keep it for at least two more years and when I am off the Black Star Stool, my successor can choose to do whatever he wants with it.
