My Strongest reason for urging Ghanaians to vote for Akuffo-Addo

Fri, 18 May 2012 Source: Adofo, Rockson

Nana Akuffo-Addo has promised every Ghanaian child a free education up to the Secondary School level if Ghanaians do elect him the President of Ghana on December 7, 2012. He will be very dynamic, dedicated in the discharge of his Executive duties, and serve Ghanaians sincerely. He will not tolerate any acts of corruption, insults and intimidation of the public by government functionaries and his government. He will also not reward those who insult his political opponents but rather demote or punish them. Under his rule, Ghanaians will no longer suffer selective justice but rather he will guarantee justice, peace and tranquillity for all. He will deal with armed robbers drastically and armed robbery will be reduced to the barest minimum or if eliminated under his rule.

I am more interested in his free education policy. With free Secondary School education for all, most people will acquire better knowledge in English. Education is about not only the attainment of fluency in spoken English but also the achievement of better general knowledge and specialisation in certain fields that collectively enhance and sustain human existence on earth if those acquiring such knowledge and expertise do put them into practical use.

To the Ghanaian, and especially our current Vice President of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, "The knowledge of English is the criterion of a man's great learning" No wonder therefore that he is alleged to have recently mocked the Ashantis saying, "the Ashantis cannot speak English" meaning, the Ashantis do not understand English. I personally do not consider his assertion as an insult but a fact. The Ashantis like all other cocoa farmers prefer their children to lend them a hand on their farms to going to school. Their cocoa proceeds grant people in other regions free tertiary education (up to the University level) and others scholarships. The very people producing the bulk of the wealth of the nation are often disadvantaged. Those lucky enough to enjoy the fruits of the hard labour of Ashanti cocoa farmers free, turn round to tease them after they have reached the top echelon of the academic ladder. A typical example is the Vice President if indeed, he had said as alleged.

The types of the Vice President are the very those telling Ghanaians Nana Akuffo-Addo cannot provide free education for all up to Secondary School level. It will be very unfortunate for any "kookooase kuraseni" (as farmers are referred to by the NDC elite) to part with their precious vote to the NDC or President Mills for any reason. Do you want them to continue to treat you as a nonentity because you are not well educated or cannot speak the Queen's English? Anyone who does not want others to look down on their children because they lack formal education should please vote Nana Akuffo-Addo and the NPP to power come elections December 7, 2012.

As long as Ghana has petrol, timber, cocoa, gold and other mineral resources, we can have the proposed free education if the future leaders judiciously manage the proceeds from the mentioned resources. What is good for the goose is also good for the gander. Our compatriots in certain regions have been availing themselves of the opportunities of the free education provided them since the late ex-President Nkrumah's time until today. It is about time the government extended same opportunities to the unfortunate illiterate sons and daughters of the cocoa farmers or farmers in general. This is exactly what Nana Akuffo-Addo intends doing when he clenches the presidency in December if and only if, you will vote for him.

Anyone who finds the attitude of the Vice President disrespectfully and unappreciative of the generous services our sweat has accorded him, and the pomposity of the bulk of the NDC quite annoying, should please vote for Nana Akuffo-Addo and the NPP. The only way to earn respect in the eyes of the disrespectful NDC who smell of corruption when they pass you by, is to please vote sensibly at elections 2012.

Please Mr Vice President, render your unconditional sincere apology to all Ashantis with me inclusive because my family's toil and sweat have put you at where you are. You have not the moral high ground to treat us so ungratefully. Mind you, is it better not able to speak English and so unable to steal or to speak English and use it as a means to embezzle funds?

Dear future voter's, I leave you to battle with your own conscience about how to cast your votes.

Lest I forget, all Kumawuman citizens resident in Europe especially Britain, are invited to the wedding of your fellow Europe-born Kumawuman compatriot. The wedding will take place on Saturday 26 May 2012 at the Pentecost Central Church in Dagenham from 13:00 to 16:00. We shall communicate the details about the venue, time etc. to you in due course. We invite all Ghanaians to the wedding ceremony regardless of your political party affiliation and religious beliefs. We are all loving Ghanaians, that fact alone is what matters most to me. I believe in "One People, One Nation, One Destiny", the motto devised for Ghana by the Late Head of State, I. K. Acheampong. Do not let political differences divide us. We are brothers and sisters but not enemies as some politicians make us understand. Shalom.
