My take on Ghana Football!

Wed, 21 Jan 2015 Source: Asirifi-Antwi, Samuel

Mr Kwesi Nyantakyi is the first GFA President to qualify Ghana Black Stars to the FIFA World Cup. We must applaud him for that!!! But glorifying him on that alone is an exercise in mediocrity as President John Mahama put's it in a political context.

Frankly, there has been a significant decline in the performance of our Local Football from the Colts level to the Premiership Level ever since Mr Kwesi Nyantakyi took over the Chairmanship of the GFA.

Secondly, there has been a gargantuan decline in the performance of the Senior National Teams especially the Black Stars following their appearance in the subsequent World Cups. A survey conducted among Football Pundits, some FA Officals and other major stakeholders in Ghana Football reveals that, the Kwesi Nyantakyi administration has concentrated much on the monetary gains from the Black Stars with the aid of coefficients and this has bred massive corruption at the GFA and the Sports Ministry at the expense of the tax payers of Ghana and to the detriment of our Local Football. The Kwesi Nyantakyi administration must be blamed for the decline in performance of our Senior National Teams and the Local Football.

Going forward, the Kwesi Nyantakyi administration has outlived their usefullness in Ghana Football, therefore a complete overhaul of the GFA administration is very imperative.

Again, there is the need to promote investment in our Local Football. Finally, Senior Players like Muntari, Essien, KP Boateng and Adam Kwarasey must be called back to the Black Stars team to boost the experience of the squad. That notwithstanding, compliance measures must be enforced to ensure discipline in the team.
