The Famous Ghanaian Female Artist, Mzbel, Exhibits her Ignorance about Nana Akufo Addo and President Mahama
Mzbel, a famous Ghanaian artist has stated on her Facebook wall as following, “President John Dramani mahama is conscious of his health and therefore drinks only water and not ‘sugar solution mixed with Christmas colours’ “He cares about his health cos he cares about us, so he only drinks H2O and not sugar solution mixed with some bronya colors”
Unless she was cracking jokes, I would assume this lady to be very ignorant about health issues and politics. She needs education rather than castigation. By writing her off as an ignorant person despite her fame as a Ghanaian artist will not do her any good but instead, getting her out of her ignorant mentality will help her lot.
Let me educate her through questions and answers. Does President Mahama drink only water without ever tasting alcoholic and “soft” (minerals) drinks? If he does drink alcohol and minerals from time to time, is he still conscious of his health? Do minerals (soft drinks) e.g. Coca-Cola, Fanta, Sprite, 7Up and other fruit-based juices contain natural or artificial sugar?
Does the fact that President Mahama drink only water make him a healthy person? Does she know the health status of President Mahama and if she does, how did she come to know about it? Does she have access to the medical records of President Mahama and if yes, when was the last time she accessed those records?
How does Mzbel justify that President Mahama cares about Ghanaians by the simple fact that he drinks H2O (water) but not fruit-based kalyppo drink? Does a President drinking water, but obviously being corrupt, nepotistic, practicing and encouraging the practice of selective justice, presiding over lawlessness and watching like a hungry dog sitting behind a bar of soap instead of a bone, make him a caring person?
Yes, I should not get Mzbel totally wrong as President Mahama who has been greasing the palms of some celebrities like “Mr Beautiful” might have greased her palms with either dollar bills or Cedi wads hence her reproduced statement about President Mahama caring about us.
Does she see how people are suffering in President Mahama’s Ghana with all things like the NHIS, School Feeding Programme, Free Maternity Care, etc., collapsing around him like a pack of cards? Does she see how those in his government and the NDC gurus are becoming extremely rich overnight through all dubious means but are left off the hook, if not promoted.
Anyway, does by sipping kalyppo for once, irrespective of your age, make you unconscious of looking after your health hence not a caring person? How often does Nana Akufo Addo drink minerals, alcohol or fruit-based juices mixed with Mzbel’s so-called sugar solution of “bronya” (Christmas) colours?
Yes, she could have advised Nana Akufo Addo to curtail or stop his intake of sugar-based drinks if he was somebody noted for consuming such drinks in voluminous quantities but not in a critical situation of feeling thirsty when one reaches for one small can, bottle or paper-container kalyppo as was seen being sipped by Nana Akufo Addo.
Furthermore, let Mzbel know that even sufferers of diabetes type 2 can from time to time drink fruit-based drinks in smaller quantities. It is not only the drinks that increase the blood sugar level in the body but the food that you eat. Does she know that carbohydrates turn into glucose and without the needed level of the body insulin, exercises etc., it can increase the blood sugar content to give rise to diabetes with the attendant complications of blindness, kidney failure, heart attack, and increase in cholesterol etc.?
She had better go to learn about “Carbs & Cals” for healthy eating before accusing Nana Akufo Addo while praising President Mahama.
I shall pardon her wrong analysis for being politically, socially and economically naive.
I am giving her an assignment. She has to arrange to have President Mahama go for a glucose tolerance test and then come back to inform Ghanaians on his health status for from one’s looks and appearance, you cannot tell precisely whether they are absolutely healthy or not. This is summed up by the British poet and prolific writer William Shakespeare. He says, “There is no art to find the mind's construction in the face”
