NDC Should Suspend Kofi Adams Immediately

There is this famous quote in Galatians 6:7 that, “Make no mistake about this. You can never make a fool out of God. Whatever you plant is what you’ll harvest” (God’s Word Translation). If this celebrated extract from the Bible is any guide, then as human beings and individuals we must watch exactly what we do lest we fall into the very pit we dig for others. If you remember the story of Haman the Agagite and Mordecai, you will understand me better.

There are times that we do dubious things secretly, thinking that nobody has seen us, little do we know that those terrible secrets would later come back to haunt us. But the day and time that your terrible past is uncovered is when you least expect it to happen.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has finally got the wind behind it, to purge itself of their most notorious executive who has been a thorn in the flesh of the party for well over two years. The guy in question is the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Deputy General Secretary, Kofi Adams, who also doubles as the Spokesperson of the Rawlings’.

A report in the Ghanaian Lens which was backed by a tape recording hugely exposed Kofi Adams having a conversation with the Executive Director of the Danquah Institute, Gabby Okyere-Darko, just after the NDC Congress in Sunyani last year, on how Adams was going to do all he can to ensure that the NDC goes down in the 2012 elections.

I was so shaken after listening to the tape that, I cannot believe why the NDC has had this mole called Adams in their midst for all this while. I am very surprised that the NDC has not been able to uncover the misdeeds of this miscreant called Adams until now. Only God knows the extent of damage Kofi Adams might have caused the NDC party. And when Radio Gold interviewed Kofi Adams, you could see how visibly shaken Adams was when he heard his own voice on the tape. Strangely enough he denied that the voice on the tape was not his, but agreed with the interviewer that the other person on the tape looks like Gabby Okyere-Darko.

I have seen this gentleman only once in my lifetime, but the very moment that I set my eyes on him, I did not like his groove. Even though I did not speak with him, something in me told me that the guy was phony. That was exactly 13 months ago and I could still recollect the look and demeanour on his face. I guess many people might have been in similar circumstances whereby they met people who they did not know from Adam, but felt there was something wrong with them or did not like them. I don’t think I am the first person nor will I be the last.

At the time that I met him, Adams was all over the news fighting the NDC from within. One could not determine whether Adams belongs to the NDC or not. But strangely enough the NDC as a party has been able to accommodate Adams until now. But with this revelation, which is the biggest news of the week, it gives the NDC the wind to get rid of this terrible character from its midst, once and for all. The Executive Committee of the party has to meet to suspend Adams immediately. If this man can stab the NDC in the back like that, then there is no way the party has to wait.

If I were Jerry John Rawlings or Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, I will never be able to go to sleep for a long time to come. If Kofi Adams can do this to the NDC, only God knows what he has done against the Rawlings’. Unless, what he did was at the instigation of the Rawlings’, I don’t see the reason why Nana Konadu and Jerry should allow Adams to step foot to their compound ever again.

Sometimes we bond with people thinking that they care so much about us only to realize later that they are there to cause our doom. If you had the chance to listen to the tape, you will hear how dubious, treacherous, traitorous, dangerous, diabolic, phony and hateful Kofi Adams was as he even lied to Gabby that President Mills has bribed the delegates to vote for him.

Kofi Adams on the tape was even suggesting to Gabby that they meet outside the country to strategize on how to cause the defeat of the NDC in the 2012 elections. This is not the kind of story that the NDC should wait on. The party’s executives should meet immediately and suspend Kofi Adams and constitute a committee to investigate the matter. The executives should also hire a voice authentication company to review the voices on the tape. And if it is established that the voice on the tape is that of Kofi Adams’, then he should be shown the exit. Such characters should never be made to join the NDC. Already, I am hearing that some foot-soldiers have threatened to lock the offices of the NDC national headquarters if it fails to act promptly on this Kofi Adams’s issue.

Whilst the NDC top guns are heaving a sigh of relief, they should ensure that they go to church this coming Sunday to thank God for exposing the ‘beast within’ to them. Truly the uncovering of this cancerous person called Kofi Adams, who has caused a lot of havoc to the NDC is very timely. It would help the party to heal and regroup as it looks forward to retaining power in the 2012 elections.

Before I sign off, I would like my readers and to a large extent the NDC members to ponder over these words, “The glory of friendship is not the outstretched hand, not the kindly smile, nor the joy of companionship; it is the spiritual inspiration that comes to one when you discover that someone else believes in you and is willing to trust you with a friendship.” - Ralph Waldo Emerson . Please keep pondering over these words till you read my next article. God Richly Stay With You!
