CPP Members Are Sacked - So The Hawks Must Be Very Careful

There have been TWO MAIN POLITICAL PARTIES in this country BEFORE AND AFTER INDEPENDENCE. These two parties were Dr. Nkrumah’s CPP and the United Party led by Dr.K.A.Busia.

The National Liberation Movement (NLM) or “Mate-Meho” as its local name was formed in 1954 as a Regional Movement in Kumasi.

The NLM wanted a Federal System of Government and Political Parties were formed on Tribal and Religious Lines e.g. The Northern People’s Party (NPP) was formed for Northerners, NLM (Matemeho) for Asantes. The Moslem Association Party (MAP) for Muslims, the Oman Party for Fantes, the Togoland Congress for Ewes, the Ghana Action Party, The Ga shifimo Kpe for Gas etc.

Dr. Busia represented the Akan/Asante block because of his willingness to even lead a Secessionist Republic of Ashanti on a narrow tribal front in 1956 with the full support of the British who had wanted Busia to win the general elections and become Ghana’s first Prime Minister but he lost all those elections in 1951, 1954 and 1956 to Dr. Nkrumah’s well organized grassroot Party – The CPP.

Dr. Nkrumah’s CPP had over 80 Rebels on its hands and almost all of whom would stand as Independent Candidates contesting 104 seats. The CPP won in all the Regions with the exception of the North, where the Northern Peoples Party (NPP) gained 18 seats. Then some of the Big Guns in the United Party (UP) such as Dr. J. B. Danquah, Willliam Ofori Atta and Amponsah Dadzie lost and the only successful candidate was Dr.K.A. Busia who won. Dr. Nkrumah was compelled to send the “Avoidance of Discrimination Act” to Parliament to be passed into law banning all political parties formed on Tribal, Regional and Religious lines, and this compelled the NLM, NPP, GCP, Ga shifimo kpe to regroup and form the United Party with Dr. Busia as the Opposition Leader in Ghana. Therefore, I am cautioning those hawks in the NDC who are demanding that CPP members must leave the NDC, that if all the CPP members leave the NDC, the party will cease to exist in this country.

I was a former Young Pioneer cadre who had the privilege to work with CPP Stalwarts like the late A. Asumda former Regional Minister for Upper Region, Mr. E.A. Mahama former Northern Regional Minister and the father of our current Vice President Mr. Magnus George, Mr. M.A. Kwatia, Mr. N.A. Welbeck, Mr. Maclean Kontche and Mr. Kofi Baako, a former Minister for Interior among several others because they were very very simple men who understood the language of the grassroot people UNLIKE TODAY – 2011 where you will only be recognized as IMPORTANT DURING the general elections when Politicians are looking for votes from you. But who is a Fool this time?

When Dr.Nkrumah was violently overthrown on 24th Feb. 1966, the CPP and its integral wings were banned with NLC Decree 345 making it an offence punishable by 5 years imprisonment WITHOUT the option of a fine, if you were caught holding the mere picture of Dr. Nkrumah. As a Young Pioneer cadre, I had Several Black and White Pictures of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and His Wife, Madam Fathia and several party members including some Ministers of State, so I hid them deep inside my TRUNK instead of BURNING THEM since no soldier could search the rooms of all CPP members in Ghana and that was the trick.

The NDC is a Third Force born out of June 4 and the 31st December Revolutions and NOT on of the traditional parties in Ghana and has existed for close to only 17 years as a political party. Membership of the NDC comprise of 90% CPP members and 10% of UP members in this country so those Hawks in the NDC advocating the removal of CPP members from the NDC will live to regret if we leave the NDC, and when that happens, the NDC as a party will only exist on mere paper. Is that clear? So those halks must stop attacking the CPP members to ensure lasting peace in the Already divided NDC. Is Anybody Listening? THIS IS A TIMELY REMINDER SO THOSE WHO HAVE EARS TO HEAR LET THEM HEAR VERY WELL. I am done.
