As the 2024 elections approach, recent polls have revealed a concerning trend for the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

While the party remains popular among Ghanaians, its presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama, trails behind Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in terms of personal ratings.

This disconnect between the party's reputation and its leader's popularity demands urgent attention and action.

To turn things around, the NDC and Mahama must take the following steps:

Fresh Faces, New Ideas: Surround Mahama with fresh faces and young talent rather than relying on the same old guard. This will inject new energy into the campaign and appeal to younger voters.

Listen to the Grassroots: Engage with ordinary Ghanaians, listen to their concerns, and address their needs. This will help Mahama connect with voters on a personal level and build trust.

Embrace Rawlings' Legacy, Pay respects to the party's founder, Jerry John Rawlings, and honor his contributions to Ghana's history. This will help reconnect the party with its roots and appeal to nostalgic voters.

Clear messaging on the 24-hour economy policy: Develop a clear, concise message that resonates with voters. Highlight the party's achievements and outline a compelling social vision for Ghana's future.

Stop the everyday press conference and move to the ground, building a base with the grassroots.

Ensure party unity and discipline by addressing internal conflicts and presenting a united front.

Additionally, I propose

Youth Empowerment: Launch initiatives to empower young people, such as job creation programs, education scholarships, and entrepreneurship support.

Digital Campaigning: Leverage social media and digital platforms to reach a wider audience, share the party's message, and engage with voters.

The time for action is now; we must work hard to secure victory in 2024.
