NDC elects disloyalty

•As Mosquito considers resignation

•Disorder and turf war within imminent

The National Democratic Congress last Saturday voted massively for NADMO boss Mr Kofi Porturphy against the campaigned choice of retained General Secretary Dr Kwabena Adjei. Delegates of the NDC from all the 275 constituencies in the country made an emphatic boo at the candidacy of Dr Kwabena Adjei despite the threats of resignation from Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia. A delegate whispered to TNF "we are not ready to replace a tamed 'barking dog' with a disrespectful 'giggling hyena'."

Gen. Mosquito as he is affectionately called in media circles and his party following, had no contest at all as the only other contestant to his position gave him no fight for his money and also entered the race rather too late.

But Mr Asiedu Nketia took on an additional burden of campaigning for his choice candidates for Chairmanship and National Organizer positions namely; Dr Kwabena Adjei and Mr Yaw Boaten Gyan respectively.

Bent on pushing his choice candidates down the throat of the about 3500 delegates who gathered in Kumasi, he threatened that should they fail to additionally vote for his candidates, he would consider resigning because it would be meaningless to work with an untrustworthy, disloyal team.

Just around the contest for the flagbearership of the NDC for the 2012 elections held in Sunyani, readers would recall that there was a 'tape' that allegedly contained the voice of Mr Kofi Adams claiming that the late President JEA Mills would be replaced before the elections or he (Kofi Adams) would work against his candidacy at the national polls.

The NDC responded swiftly by suspending Mr Adams pending investigations. After about 3years of whirling, the Party eventually decided to reinstate the 'once disloyal, traitor Kofi Adams'. Indeed after the Sunyani congress of the NDC, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings faced with humiliation amidst harassment from a party she once mothered was left with no option than to form her own party, the National Democratic Party with the blessing of her controversial husband Mr Jerry John Rawlings.

A source very close to the former first family hinted TNF that the inability of Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings to file to contest the presidential elections in 2012 was the hatchet job solely executed by Mr Kofi Adams by creating the defect in the supporting signatures to her filing documents. The source hinted, "Kofi's disloyalty to Naana, we believe was to make peace with the NDC through President Mahama, and how it that eventually turns out, would be a great scene to watch knowing that character trait hardly spares a man".

At the Kumasi congress, the NDC also made some amendments to their constitution. Major areas touched were the expansion of the party's delegates list in subsequent electoral processes and the change in name from the negating propaganda secretary into a positive looking Communication Officer.

A political pundit TNF spoke to on happenings in the NDC and the eventual outcome of the elections said the NDC needed to go into a post congress healing process to build a high level relationship of trust among the elected officers. He wondered how anyone would whole heartedly work with someone who had openly accused him of being a traitor and a non-winnable team player. "How can you wholly commit to such a course if you were in their shoes?" He quipped.
