I have noted with great pain and sorrow as a Ghanaian, the bizarre development in this new government being led by Nana Addo. Few days ago, Bugri Naabu, Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party NPP disrupted a meeting organized by Gender, Children and Social Protection Minister with some women groups in the Northern Region over what he describes as not being consulted by the minister before holding a meeting in the region.

This development has angered Otiko Djaba who accused Mr. Bugri Naabu of collecting goats, cows and sheep from people in Tamale in return for securing government appointments for them. He (Bugri Naabu) subsequently accused Otiko Djaba and Rockson Bukari, the Upper East Regional Minister of having knowledge in the gruesome murder of the late NPP Upper East Regional Chairman, Adams Mahama. The accusation led to exchanges between the three members of the ruling party with threats of legal action against Naabu by Rockson Bukari if the former did not retract and apologize unreservedly for his allegations.

I consider this wild allegation made my Mr. Daniel Bugri Naabu, the Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) connecting Hon. Otiko Afisa Djaba, the Gender and Social Protection Minister and Hon. Rockson Bukari, the Upper East Regional Minister to the heinous murder of the late Alhaji Adams Mahama as a grave concern as this could spell doom for our democracy and good governance.

The said allegation is mind-boggling and cannot be swept under the carpet or be as a covered up by the NPP government. The mere apologies from the duo means nothing to Ghanaians. The good people of Ghana cannot allow Bugri Naabu to “Suarez” them on the back of an apology he rendered under duress. There could be some iota of truth in his pronouncements since the other person (Hon. Rockson Bukari) mentioned in the murder allegation was not part of their (Naabu and Otiko) fight.

How come Bugri did not mentioned Gregory Afoko this time round but Rockson Bukari? Is this wild allegation what Bugri want Ghanaians to believe is a slip of tongue? So does it mean Gregory Afoko is also languishing in jail because someone mistakenly slipped his or her tongue to say he is the one who might have killed the late Chairman Adams? Again, does it mean the bribery allegation he (Naabu) levelled against President Mahama in the heat of the 2016 elections was after all a slip of tongue? So Mustapha Hamid now Minister of Information, knew very well the supposedly bribery car documents given to him by Naabu upon which he organized a press conference to soil the hard won reputation of the former president Mahama and his younger brother Ibrahim was after all calculated lies to win the elections at all cost?

These are serious questions begging for clear-cut answers. Bugri Naabu cannot hide behind his position in the NPP and be made to go free. The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Council of Elders meeting over the raging feud between Daniel Bugri Naabu and Otiko Djaba and decisions taken was needless. It was a lazy approach used to ostensibly sweep this important issue under the carpet.

Justice must be served. Why is the state still frustrating Gregory Afoko and his family when it has now been revealed by Mr. Bugri Naabu, a leading member of the NPP that some NPP kingpins were actually the people who hatched the plan and succeeded in eliminating Chairman Adam Mahama through acid bath? I am of the firm believe that this matter is one that must be taken serious and visited by the state security apparatus with the urgency it deserves. I believe the trio either has knowledge or a hand in the gruesome murder of the late NPP’s Upper East Regional Chairman, Adams Mahama.

By this release, I am adding my voice to the numerous calls from many Ghanaians for a full scale investigation to be conducted to bring the said issue to its logical conclusion for no one is more Ghanaian than the other.
