The Decision – Nana Akuffo Addo
Congratulations Nana, You are a great Statesman! Your decision to call the election results after the SC decision puts you in my books and most importantly the world as a great leader. It is very critical to continue on that path when you make your decision regarding your future in politics. Here are some critical decisions facing you and the party.
Go for the presidency a third time. This could lead you to the presidency, case in point not….. President Kuffour and the Late President Mills. If you go for this option, you must not take Dr. Bawumia with you. Twice he has been your right hand man and twice has not helped win a single region. With all due respect, NPP has to move away from this northern paring. Dr. Bawumia will be a table. Election is all about the numbers…… look at Obama and African Americans and Hispanics. Without these groups, he wouldn’t be in the Whitehouse. We cannot win the presidency by only wining two regions. We must get back to President Kuffour’s winning regions. NPP HAS ONLY TWO STRATEGIES TO ENSURE VICTORY. They are:
STRATEGY 1: I would suggest you choose as your vice Alan Kyerematen. I strongly believe Alan would bring you at least two of the following regions. Greater Accra, Central, Brong Ahafo and Western. Nana, the NPP system is more of a seniority system like the Republican Party in the United States….. Bush to Romney, Labor party in the UK…..Tony Blair to Gordon Brown.
Most importantly, Alan will bring to the table floating voters who win elections. They won it for president Kuffour and they will do it for you and Alan in 2016.
STRATEGY 2 : I would suggest for the unity of the party, come out and endorse Alan Kyerematen for 2016. The party is and will forever be divided unless you as a world statesman come out to unite it. Elections are all about winning and Alan being the second most popular person in the party, uniting his supporters along with your supporters in the party will be a great accomplishment for you. Give Alan the choice to make his decision on who he feels will be an appropriate vice presidential candidate, again, with the aim of selecting someone who can bring along some votes.
I personally think you should go for STRATEGY 1, and take Alan with you and start grooming him for his opportunity at the 2020 elections. You can still win the presidency but only with someone who can bring along some votes. Dr. Bawumia was okay, but he cannot bring you any votes, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY HE CANNOT BRING HIS OWN REGION to ensure victory against President Mahama in 2016. NPP has a better chance this time around by bringing to bear all the discrepancies at the last election.
NANA, GO WITH ALAN 2016!!!!!!
Thank you!
