Dear Kwabena Duffour,

I am writing to convey my views to you in the capacity of a fellow Kumawu citizen who admires you for who and what you are. You have always desired to be of service to your people and country, for that I am 100% aware.

You have been of immense help to many a needy and poor person who approaches you for help. Your kindness, fatherly love, and sincere advice to those who approach for one reason or the other cannot be expressed in simple words.

It was for the fact of your resolute determination to be of selfless service to the nation that you accepted an appointment by then President Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings, the founding father of the National Democratic Congress.

You and I know that you became a staunch member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) when your childhood political party you were affiliated with, thus, the Convention People’s Party (CPP), collapsed, after the overthrow of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

For your ever readiness to serve your people and nation, you accepted the position of finance minister in the NDC administration of late President Professor Evans Atta Mills when he pleadingly approached you to lend him a hand to govern Ghana.

You carried out your duties with distinction, both as Governor of the Bank of Ghana and finance minister.

You are on record as not having taken any emoluments as finance minister, not even using a government car, drawing free petrol due sector ministers, or any such benefits as were, and continue to be, enjoyed by other ministers. This is the level you went to demonstrate your love for your country and people, rendering them impeccable selfless service free of charge.

There is nothing that can extricate you from your innate wish to serve your country hence feel unease when you do not have the opportunity to help most desirably. However, I can’t see you realising your dream to the fullest by continuing to affiliate with the NDC under the leadership of former President John Dramani Mahama.

He will not allow you to play any meaningful role to avoid you outshining him. He will ensure that you are kept at arm’s length, keeping you in obscurity to subdue your potential.

You have no future in NDC to realise your full potential in the service of your nation and people, especially when former President John Dramani Mahama remains the leader.

Your truthfulness, intelligence, wisdom, and incorruptibility totally diverge from who and what former President Mahama is hence he will not give you a chance in NDC if he remains the leader.

You are not a liar but most people in NDC are. They live the life of liars, and propagate lies all to win political power. These are not your values so I may recommend to you to re-examine your membership of NDC to avoid being painted with the same tainted brush being used to paint many in NDC.

I will suggest to you to rejoin the NPP, the party of your locality.

Whatever wounds that may have been inflicted on you will be healed. Just come back home, my most respected fellow countryman.
