Dear Dr Alex Adomako Mensah,

May this letter come to find you well and in sound mind. May you cogitate about its content, accept it, and do as suggested. However, the final decision rests with you.

I am suggesting that you seek reconciliation with your eldest brother, Dr. Kwabena Duffour, for denying him at a time when he needed support from NDC delegates, let alone, his brother of the same parents.

You went against my advice to withdraw your candidacy from the pending NDC primaries elections to pave the way for Dr Kwabena Duffour Jnr.

It is not worth my time and yours, and presumably not in the public interest to reveal the entirety of the conversation held between us over that subject. The telephone conversation lasted thirty-four minutes.

Nonetheless, if you had heeded my advice to you, your brother’s son, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor Jnr., could have won the primaries without resulting in the situation where both of you lost it to Hajia Nasira Afrah.

The earlier you make amends by apologising to your senior brother, much the better. Don’t be ungrateful to him for it is said, don’t bite the hand that feeds you or has fed you.

As it stands now, I am not sure Mr. John Dramani Mahama will honour any promise he has made to you. He would rather draw your senior brother closer to him than you. He only used you to win the NDC presidential primaries.

I drew your attention to the saying, “Blood is thicker than water”. That notwithstanding, you still obstinately stuck to your guns until things backfired on you.

To err is human. Therefore, I can only advise you for a second time on your political beliefs, aspirations, and inclinations, to go back and make amends with your brother before it is too late.

Don’t let politics and personal ambitions tear brothers asunder. You can continue to keep your old friends and classmates at arm’s length but not your brother.

A word to the wise is sufficient.
