The Electoral Commission (EC) has denied reports that Persol Systems Limited, the company contracted by the commission for the construction of the new Production and Disaster Recovery Data Centre belongs to the husband of the chairperson of the EC.
The EC said the report is an “outrageous lie” since Persol Systems Limited has no links whatsoever to Mrs Jean Mensa and her husband.
The EC in a statement called on the public to disregard the report and treat it with contempt.
“In the lead up to the general elections in December, the EC is mindful of the fact that there will be attempts by sections of the society to malign the integrity and credibility of the chairperson, her deputies and the commission,” the statement said.
The EC has called on Ghanaians to verify the owners of Persol Systems Limited at the Registrar Generals department.
The new Production and Disaster Recovery Data Centre has become necessary as the EC prepares to compile a new voter’s register ahead of the December polls.
