Pastor Percy Amoako, who claims to be a pastor at the Trede Branch of the House of Prayer Ministry in the Atwima Kwanwoma District of Ashanti, is in the grips of the police, over the sudden death of a 20-year-old pregnant lady.
The deceased, Akua Agyeiwaa, popularly known as ‘Ebo’ said an apprentice hairdresser, died at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) on May 04, 2019, when she was rushed there in a critical condition.
This was after Pastor Amoako allegedly gave her some unknown drug to ingest, to stop an abortion of her pregnancy, when she went to the church to seek divine healing for her problem.
A family spokeperson of the deceased told the Ghana News Agency that pregnant Agyeiwaa, went to the church for prayers, when she started experiencing intermittent bleeding and feared her pregnancy could be aborted.
The source said Pastor Amoako, allegedly gave Agyeiwaa some two tablets (yet unknown), to take.
After ingesting the drug, the source said, she started bleeding much heavier and as a result, she was rushed to KATH for treatment, amidst the copious bleeding, the source said.
The family spokesperson said, deceased kept mentioning the name of the Pastor as the one who gave her the drug to take, before she finally passed on.
A report was made to the Ashanti Regional Police Command, after which Pastor Amoako was arrested and detained.
A source at the Ashanti Regional Police Command corroborated the story and added that investigations still on-going.
