Who says that Prof John Evans Atta Mills is not fit to lead the NDC into the elections?
Who says that Prof John Evans Atta Mills has not got enough fire in his belly to flag the issues and get Ghanaians and the world to look closely at matters that of concern to mother Ghana?
Who says that Prof John Evans Atta Mills is a man of peace and so will lie down for the NPP to steal the verdict of the majority of Ghanaians?
Who says that Prof John Evans Atta Mills and the NDC are not working?
The work of politics is multi faceted and so when people say that Prof Mills is not working, they should not base their analysis on the fact that Prof Mills is not walking around and insulting his political opponents.
If the NDC were not working, will the party have discovered the gargantuan fraud that is taking place in Ashanti Region with regard to the voters register?
The Ghanaian Lens was the first to put out the issue of over 100% growth in the voter population in 13 constituencies in the Ashanti Region.
As usual, it was easy for those who wanted to ignore our story, to ignore it.
The following day, The Ghana Palaver, also carried the story and it was also ignored largely by the electronic media.
That is why I am very happy that NDC Leader & Presidential Candidate, Professor John Evans Atta Mills, when he was working in the Central Region at the beginning of his hugely successful nationwide tour, stoked the right flames and put out the issue of the over bloated voters register.
Unable to ignore what the NDC Leader put out, some newspapers carried the info and the electronic media has also discussed the subject in detail.
If the EC thought it was going to be able to run away from the issue, Prof Mills has put it on the front burner and the likes of Yorke Aidoo have had no option but to respond.
In as much as Yorke Aidoo in particular is dancing around the issue, he admits that a 100% growth in voter population within two years is absolutely unacceptable.
Indeed, Yorke Aidoo admits that any such growth in voter population must not be accepted and that the NDC has every right to flag the issue.
Whiles Akufo-Addo prefers to be gallivanting around the West Coast and behaving like presidents even before he gets the mandate to lead the country, Prof Atta Mills is operating in Ghana and dealing with the issues.
This writer knows for a fact that before the NDC Leader embarked on his nationwide tour, he met a delegation from the Carter Center, and they were made to understand that they must keep Ghana on their radar because all is not well with Ghana’s electoral process.
In 2004, the Carter Center was not in Ghana to observe the elections because they were made to believe that all is well with Ghana’s democracy.
Prof Mills was very honest with the delegation and asked them not to take it for granted that all is well with Ghana’s democracy and that the Center should not only be in Ghana to monitor the elections, but to also be around during the registration period to monitor the registration.
Indeed, when Yorke Aidoo says that our democracy has plateaued and so there is no need for IPAC to be meeting regularly, this writer thinks the gentleman does not know what he is talking about.
The voters register was not opened last year when it should have; the voters register will be opened in May when in an election year, it should be opened in the first quarter; the register will be opened in only 5,000 centers when it should be opened in all the centers; there is the case of an over bloated register; and Yorke Aidoo thinks that there is no need for IPAC meetings?
Some of us want to thank Prof Mills for letting the world know what is happening as far as our voters register is concerned and we hope that the EC will take the necessary steps to clean the register.
Nobody is wishing anything bad for our dear country but if we don’t allow for a free and fair election, nobody should blame the NDC for any fallout for we will not sit down and allow any junkie and his acolytes and hirelings to steal the mandate of the people so that they can hand over Ghana to their drug baron friends.
Prof Mills has spoken, let those who have ears hear him.
