PRESS RELEASE

RE - Betty Mould-Iddrisu: Ghana’s Worst Attorney-General Ever

The Patriotic Youth Movement reacts to a statement by the NPP-USA branch, which was posted on www.ghanaweb.com on 14th October, 2010 and captioned: Betty Mould-Iddrisu: Ghana’s Worst Attorney-General Ever.

In the statement, characteristic of the NPP, they launched unprovoked attacks on a very harmless, noble woman who is only seeing to the successful implementation of the Better Ghana Agenda as the Chief Legal Advisor to Government and to prosecute criminal offenses.

They raised issues relating to her moral life and for choosing which cases to prosecute, the reasons why they think she is Ghana’s worst Attorney-General ever.

We wish to state, first of all, that the so-called ‘NPP-USA’ who are supposed to be based in the USA and are expected to show a bit of dexterity in the use of the English Language were amateurish, to say the least, in their use of the language. We don’t claim perfection, but their lack of knowledge stinks to the high heavens. This is displayed in the entirety of their useless statement, which is pregnant with incoherence, contradiction and grammatical errors. Such garbage is only fit for the cesspit.

Talking about incompetence, have the NPP-USA developed amnesia over the embarrassment their flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo, then Attorney-General, caused the NPP Government when the Supreme Court declared the Fast Track High Courts illegal courts? Wasn’t the beleaguered and embattled Attorney-General Akufo-Addo sidelined, when then President Kufuor, from far away Australia, caused Minister of State, Elizabeth Ohene to issue a statement directing Nana Akufo-Addo to “use all constitutional means” to ensure that the Supreme Court’s 5-4 decision was reviewed? The most humiliating and devastating blow to both the office and person of Akufo-Addo, we remind, was to follow when a Presidential directive was given at a Cabinet meeting to freeze all actions on the Tsatsu Tsikata Case until after the Supreme Court had given the reasons for its decision in that case. By publicly directing the Attorney-General on what was essentially a legal matter, the then President Kufuor was seen to be advertising his lack of confidence in the performance and judgement of his Attorney-General. We dare ask the NPP-USA to tell us who is worse, Mrs Betty Mould-Iddrisu who has NEVER been directed this way or Nana Akufo-Addo who was virtually turned into a white elephant in his own office, unable to initiate and conduct all prosecutions of criminal offences as provided for in Article 88(3) of the 1992 Constitution?

Again, every first year law student knows too well that, when a person is alleged to have committed an offence against the state, the charge brought up against the individual will definitely not be the President versus Tsatsu Tsikata. It takes an extremely incompetent and dead brain Nana Akufo-Addo to prefer such a wrong charge. The honourable Attorney-General, Mrs Betty Mould-Iddrisu, who did not get a third class in Economics at the University of Ghana and did not get sacked from Oxford University for blockheadedness and criminality would not prefer such useless charges which will only face the wrath of our courts for imbecility.

Further, why did the alleged wee smoker; cocaine sniffer; drunkard and wife beater; Nana Akufo-Addo, as Attorney-General, oversee the de-confiscation of frozen assets of Raymond Amankwah, a world reputed Cocaine Baron? Was Nana Akufo-Addo an accomplice in the drug business and benefitting from the assets, we ask? When have any of these questions ever been asked of an Attorney-General of Ghana? Is it not Akufo-Addo alone who has these questions hanging on his neck? Who then is worse, Betty or Nana Addo, pea brain NPP-USA?

We want to ask the NPP-USA whether they want to see their former corrupt leader, Kufuor, and alleged drug dealer and user, Nana Akufo-Addo, in jail before they conclude that Mrs Betty Mould-Iddrisu is performing. Shouldn’t they be appeasing the gods they serve with bottles of schnapps and thanking them for having a calm and cool-headed President Mills who has not arbitrarily removed the NPP apparatchik Chief Justice, than to write such nonsense about our respected Attorney-General?

But you see, if we want to continue on Nana Akufo-Addo, we will never finish. He has a lot hanging on his neck. We are only reserving further comments on him to be unleashed at a future date, knowing very well that in their stupidity, they will come back again.

The Patriotic Youth Movement wishes to advise the so-called NPP-USA (i.e. if they have any intelligence at all to take advice) to expend their energies in correcting what has become an aberration on their party – Nana Akufo-Addo, who is a complete representation of negativity, who is only fit for gangsterism, roguery and vagrancy. We are convinced that the good Lord above will not curse our dear nation with such character as our leader. God forbid!

PS: Is it not strange that it was during the era of the NPP in government that contractors were paid in black polythene bags, the architects being John Kofi Diawuo Kufuor, Kwadwo Mpiani, Charles Wereko-Brobbey and Dr Richard Anane? Does this suggest thievery? We leave this to agitate the minds of discerning Ghanaians.
