Re: Ghanaians must ignore Rawlings’ evil antics-professor Mike Oquaye.

See Ghana web,6/6/2014.

A revolution from the Latin revolutio, “a turnaround” is a fundamental change in power or organizational structures that takes place over a relatively short period of time. It is mostly used to refer to political change. Revolutions have occurred throughout human history and vary widely in terms of methods, duration and motivating ideology. Their results include major changes in culture, economy and socio-political institutions. However, only a dim-witted will disagree that atrocities were committed under so called Great presidents/heads of state; E.g. Kwame Nkrumah (Ghana, Political persecution), Roosevelt (USA, Slavery, racial discrimination,Lynching), Churchill (Britain, Colonization, racial discrimination), Mahatma Gandhi (India, Caste murders, discrimination) etc

.Whatever people like professor Mike Oquaye may look at it,some of us believe in the revolutions led by Flt Jerry John Rawlings. June 4th is about values and principles; It is a reminder that principles must be the core platform on which we build a Great and Strong nation- the cause of right- the cause of justice, the cause of fairness and the cause of brotherhood. The June 4th celebration until 2004 was a public holiday but was revoked by the previous NPP government led by former president John Agyakum Kufour who argued the celebration of the June 4th was touching the sensitivity of some group of Ghanaians whose families fall as victims to the June 4th uprising. So what locus does npp have now to talk about corruption?. As Jerry Rawlings kept saying; the past npp regime set in motion the moral and economic crisis Ghanaians are experiencing today.

The June 4 uprising which was staged by some group of military personnel led by the former president

Jerry John Rawlings was purportedly aimed to alleviate corruption which was at the time rising uncontrollable. The period was also tough times for an ordinary Ghanaian. However, the June 4th uprising seems not to have served its intended purpose because characters like professor Mike Oquaye have legalize corruption by revoking the June 4th reminder in the history of this country. And considering the current corruption level in the country which continuos to deny the ordinary Ghanaian of a better education, employment, good clean drinking water, electricity, good roads, rule of law, social justice and equality among other amenities should be blame on the npp for legalizing corruption. "The house of my father not a den of thieves but a sanctuary of Sacred and Holy Communion with God." Similarly, the seat of governmental power is not a place for thieves, liars, greedy and selfish people but a place where honesty, simplicity, nobility, sacrifice,

truth and justice must be enthroned and glorified.

June 4th has never been about making all poor to become rich and every one equal. It has never proclaimed as its goal the banishment of poverty from the land. What Its has done is to underscore the need for fairness, equity and the creation of opportunities such that all who truly aspire and apply themselves diligently and make a genuine endeavor can rise progressively out of the doldrums and show that individual and societal progress can be achieved by all classes of people regardless of birth, creed, ethnicity, social status or so called "privileged education" . Jerry John Rawlings words 'Leave my men alone- I'm responsible' were immortals words that will continue to be the standard of true leadership in our country. Those words remind us of the master's teaching that 'to save one's life we must be prepared to lose it'. selflessness and sacrifice was brought to the fore when Flt Lt

Jerry John Rawlings was arrested on May 15th 1979 for daring to stand up against social injustice, bad governance and lack of discipline in the Ghanaian army. That selflessness and sacrifice could be summed in the following words- 'I would rather die trying to bring about a positive transformation to my people than adopt the "if you cannot beat them, join them approach"

Therefore, developing people’s power and human sufficiency will contribute to the positive evolution of our society and will advance the dreams and desires of the gallant soldiers who laid their lives on the 4th of June 1979 revolution to save this country. I will like to use this opportunity to appeal to all the heroes of that great day who are still alive not to be quit about the happening and let people perceived June 4th as if it's Jerry Rawlings alone who celebrates it. Lets see June 4th as a day some gallant men of this country rise up against corruption and

others. Elders of this our great nation with true principle should educate the young ones about the true history of this our great land rather than leaving in the the hands of professors who kept twisting the historical facts to suit their political agenda or in the hands of book writers who does not no the true history or twist the true history for generations unborn. I will like to dedicate this write up to Paul A.A Justice for the wonderful work he is doing. May God rewards him in all his endeavor Long live Jerry Rawlings,Long live Ghana.
