Our attention has been drawn to an article by one Kwasi Kpodo, who is correspondent of Reuters, the international news agency. In this article he claims without any evidence he that the supreme court are likely to reject the petition brought before it regarding the outcome of the 2012 elections. It s very sad that a reputable international agency like Reuters would allow itself to be brought into disrepute by Mr Kpodo and we call for investigations into his conduct.
First of all Mr Kpodo is not a judge, neither is he even involved in this case. His assertion that Ghana would even struggle financially if the 1st respondent John Mahama does not win is bordering on outright lies, sheer fallacy and gutter journalism.
Ghana was already struggling financially before this case with the meat already chewed and the bones left rotten. Mr Kpodo should ask the current President Mr Mahama how and why he made these comments and who has caused the sorry mess in Ghana’s finances, which have nothing to do with the case in court. Reuters has an obligation to report the facts and be seen to be neutral, as this case has major implications for Ghana’s young and testing democracy The law they say is in the bosom of the judges. Kwasi Kpodo and Reuters must rest assured that this case will be judged on the facts and evidence that were presented before the court, not the economic and fiscal conditions of Ghana or the country’s deficit. The judges are not economists and statisticians Mr Kpodo! Mr Kpodo and Reuters must know that no amount of propaganda and diversion and will prevent justice from winning at the end.
