It was quite disheartening to read with disgust the utterly disrespectful and libelous article written by someone purporting to be a Nana Biakoye.Infact, it was so sordid.
In the said article, the nincompoop talks about Nana Akufo Addo getting high and clowning himself. Yes you were damn right, with the rising cost of living, depreciating cedi, inflationary trends, and political witch hunting and with Atta- mills and his motley crew of ministers lacking a sense of direction, He had reasons to be high with a lot of anger.
One does not need to be an astute economist to understand when the cedi is depreciating and times getting harder- in any case, Fiifi Fiave Kweitey is our Deputy Finance Minister and he does not even understand Demand and Supply curves. Kwesi Pratt and Kweku Baako cannot write economic papers but they understand a lot of micro economic issues and after all the NDC’s Minister of Finance and Economic Planning does not have a full grasp of what even re-denomination is. His lack of understanding of micro economics was evident when he did not understand that basically, the redenomination of the cedi just took away four zeros from the bulky cedis that we had and adding back the four zeros gives you the value before re-denomination. What Akufo-Addo said was just reiterating the fact which every Ghanaian knows. The fact that The NDC is failing in its promise of a better Ghana and refusing to fix an economy they claim is broke- the reason why Ghanaians voted for them.
The said Biakoye talked about a third class degree in Economics. Nana could and might have gotten a third class, but you do not need a first class from the University to succeed in life. After all, former president Rawlings, a man I personally admire in a lot of ways got bad grades in his O’level but was president of Ghana for nearly twenty years and did arguably well. Nana, regardless of his alleged third class degree and suspicious law degree has proven beyond doubt that he is a legal luminary in Ghana. He stands tall in the courtroom and can always be counted among the first class students in the courtroom. If even at all, his father played a role in his admission into the law school, his achievements as a lawyer in Ghana should make all his critics eat the humble pie.
I believe that the issue facing Ghanaians now is not about Nana’s personal life or how former president Kufuor or Gabby Otchere-Darko got their degrees. What matters is they have degrees and did not plagiarize like Haruna Iddrisu or Okudjeto- Ablakwa who does not have a degree but are serving ministers. The elections are over and we as a people must concentrate on what needs to be done. Petrol prices have increased 30% and food inflation is running at a speed that will beat Usain Bolt in a hundred meter dash. Those are the problems and not what Nana gets or does not get high on.
I will advise Mr. Biakoye to use all the time he has- since NDC has not created a job for him yet,to talk on the Bawku conflict- that is killing our brothers, the “Chinchinga” eating minister- who spent 15K on meat, despite the Rawlings’s gong- gong about June 4th and his probity and accountability charade, the fuel and food inflation we are seeing- despite the promise of a better Ghana, the two presidents that we have presently-Flt Lt Rawlings and “Ecominy” Mills, the filth engulfing Accra, the rising unemployment and NDC’s reneging of their promises. And if he wants to attack personalities, he can attack the president who has become more of a comic relief than a leader, and his failing health which are more serious concerns to all Ghanaians.
Blessing Tsegah.
