FBI Agents Arrive

A team of FBI agents have arrived in the country to assist the Ghana Police Service to investigate the serial murders and also to assist them with training in other aspects policing skills.

The FBI team includes experts who focus on the identification, collection and preservation of evidence at crime scenes as well as members of the violent criminal apprehension program whose area of expertise involves the investigation, identification apprehension and prosecution of violent serial offenders.

According to a release issued yesterday by the Public Affairs section of the US embassy, members of the International Criminal training and A=ssistance Program (ICITAP) will also conduct a training session in Police First Response for patrol officers who are usually the first to arrive at a crime scene.

The release noted that the course aims at instilling understanding and appreciation of the valuable role every patrol officer plays in the criminal investigation process.

"These two training events build on the strong foundation of cooperation on security matters that has been laid over several years between the US and the Government of Ghana" Stated the release.

It could be recalled that the FBI director, Mr. Louis J. Freeh, during his recent visit to Ghana promised to assist the Ghana Police Service to investigate the serial killing of women in Accra and to assist them in training.
