.....for Adjourning the Trial of Alfred Agbesi Woyome
When a long rope falls into an unwitty hand, it does not take long for him to make a noose to hang himself. This is exactly the situation facing the State prosecutors tasked to prosecute the scoundrel, Alfred Agbesi Woyome, with the intent to retrieve the State money he unduly availed himself of.
My noble readers will recall that the State prosecutors have repeatedly been asking the Financial Division of the Accra Fast Track High Court where Alfred Agbesi Woyome is on trial for defrauding Ghana of GHC51.2 million to postpone the case whenever it is due for hearing. They have always been offering flimsiest excuses such as, "the docket is not ready", "we cannot find one of the principal witnesses", and "we cannot get our principal witness because he is living outside the jurisdiction of Ghana". These are the nonsensical excuses they have always force-fed Ghanaians.
Now that they have run out of both flimsy and tangible excuses, it is now the turn of the Court herself to lend them a helping hand. Have they ever had a tangible excuse to offer? Not even once, if I can recollect.
On Thursday 28 February 2013, the Court presided over by Justice Ajet-Nassam, adjourned the case due to a supposedly breakdown of the court's recording machine. I tell you, nonsensical wonders that make complete mockery of Ghanaians will never cease in Ghana. Nevertheless, no matter how voluminous or great the river from where they draw their liquefied excuses from, the water will run out to expose the barrenness of the river bed. "Hard words won't break bones", will they?
No matter what they do, knowing very well that the government and the NDC are behind the scenes remotely pulling the silly strings that make the State prosecutors dance to the tune of the obvious "pete dancing", Woyome will refund the money with interest. They are just helping him to run but he cannot hide as long as the Sun, the Moon and the Stars continue to emit or reflect light.
Alfred, please pay the money and be free. Next time you will think twice when people approach you to front for the commitment of a crime. You will never go scot free as long as many people are offering themselves as Citizen Vigilantes.
Much as one tree cannot make a forest, ("Dua kor3 gye mmframa a ebu"), I call on all well-meaning Ghanaians to join those of us fighting for justice, fairness and peace to prevail in Ghana. Our leaders, I will assume, are, Hon. Martin Amidu, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong and Nana Akuffo-Addo and Co.
I will not taciturnly sit on the fence, humming and cracking my fingers in tandem while gargantuan rot of corruption engulfs Ghana. I invite all sensible Ghanaians to join the crusade for ensuring justice prevails in the retrieval of the money (GHC51.2 million) from Mr. Alfred Agbesi Woyome.
I conclude by quoting Emperor Haile Selassie of Ethiopia, he said, “Throughout history, it has been the inaction of those who could have acted; the indifference of those who should have known better; the silence of the voice of justice when it mattered most; that has made it possible for evil to triumph.”
Will you continue to keep to yourself, my dear reader, while a few opportunistic individuals take Ghana for the roughest free ride?
