The Booings And The Hootings: Voluntary or involuntary action?

It all started like child's play when President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was booed at the Global Citizen Festival in September.

A few weeks later, another booing incident was captured when the president went for the Ashanti regional tour, which is believed to be the stronghold of the ruling New patriotic party.

As if that was not enough, the president's tour of the eastern region was another hooting incident at Akroso.

The Majority Leader, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, had earlier had his share of the booing in his constituency at suame in Kumasi. On Saturday, 5th November 2022, Vice President Dr. Mahmoud Bawumia was booed and jeered at the Hogbetsotso za festival in Anlo in the Volta region.

Inasmuch as it is unfortunate, it is equally intriguing and mind-boggling for political actors, especially communicators of the ruling party, to proclaim that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is behind such shameful acts.

One can clearly see from the various clips of these hootings that it is an involuntary and spontaneous reaction of ordinary Ghanaians who are disappointed in the happenings in the country, hence such reactions towards the leadership of the state.

The general economic hardship is biting hard, and the earlier the government puts pragmatic measures to ameliorate the suffering of the masses, the better for all of us.

Party communicators must know that Ghanaians are watching and listening keenly and must therefore communicate with facts and sincerity, as politics of deception has no place anymore in our political arena.
