The Condition Of Our Country

Sat, 27 Feb 2010 Source: The Royal Enoch

Lately I seem to be at lost in silence

Yet I cannot seem to 4get the sound which brought here

It was the sound of tired souls awaiting eternal rest

The sound of war beating on infinity's chest

Such destruction

Even the wind couldn't resist swaying to this sound

The classic sound of widows in tears

Hidden truths long buried for years

The sound of negro spirituals sung aloud

The sound of African slaves waiting ashore

Perhaps it's time for nobility to stand and be counted

Not just for the sake of vanity

Or heaven's grace

But that good might triumph over evil

The evil which prostitutes a woman of grace

The evil which deems the innocent guilty

And the guilty innocent

The evil which brings about despair

The evil which damages one's soul beyond repair

The evil which makes slaves out of free men

Lately I cannot seem to tell our wise men from our fools

Nor the doings of nature from the doings of men

It seems that the beginning starts where it ends

That a fool's laughter only fuels a wise-man's course

Perhaps the sweetness is in the dream

Or maybe the dream is the sweetness itself

Those who know say that they don't know

Those who don't know say that they do know

Unfortunately men have become women in Ghana

So none of us would ever know

Dim the lights and blow out the candles

For thieves operate best at night fall

Hide your future before they steal it

Keep your priceless dreams in your head

Everybody is talking about change

But only a few really mean it

NDC and NPP are partying in full bloom

So let's all party until we drop

Because in this land of thieves and cutthroats

The music must never stop
