The Ghana I want To See

Fri, 29 Jan 2010 Source: Owusu-Ansah, Kofi

The Ghana we should all call for. A Ghana where former President JJ Rawlings and JA Kufuor will stand together as Ghanaians in the first place and then as former presidents of our dear country. A Ghana where it will not be centred on issues of political parties but centred on national issues. A Ghana we shall see ourselves as children of one mother, our great Maame Amma Ghana. A Ghana where the issues would not centre on individuals and their selfish needs but rather the NEEDS of the peoples these individuals claim to love and wish to better. A Ghana where the focus shall be on national issues such as : Water and Sanitation, Food, Schools with laboratories,Hospitals,Housing, Good Roads and better streets with lights, Welfare facilities for pregnant women without having to suffer high infant mortality during childbirth, Child care fore for all, Good pension for those who in their prime contributed towards our country's GDP. Etc.

A Ghana, where all the citizens will be given equal opportunities to develop their God given talents. A Ghana we as Ghanaians will not become second citizens in our own country, because foreigners will not decide what we should eat, wear, say and stay etc. A Ghana where we shall be proud to wear and use what we manufacture; Eat what we produce, Be proud of our rich culture without sacrificing it for foreign ones, A Ghana where foreigners would not corrupt our minds, with their culture in the form of movies and goods that are alien to us. A Ghana we shall rise above Ethnicity and Tribal conflicts and live in harmony and peace. A Ghana where Akyeampong, Ameworwor, Okai Koi, Atenga, Eshun etc. will co-exist as one people with common destiny, trying to make use of the resources nature has provided for us to enjoy.

The time has come for us to stop hallow worshipping individuals in our society as if they matter more than us. In the sight of God, whatever he created is GOOD and therefore every individual Ghanaian, no matter what your standing in society is, you are GOOD SAYS THE CREATOR OF THE HEAVENS AND EARTH. If you were not good why will they, the politicians come to you every four years to give them your THUMP approval?

That day we shall see Mr Jerry John Rawlings standing and walking hand in hand with Mr John Agyekum Kufuor, then Ghana will see the merit of the 1979/81 Coup which according to the makers was to unite our country and bind us as one nation with the common destiny of building a brighter future for our children and their children. Anything short of this, then the 1979/81 uprising never achieved its aim. Instead of uniting, then I would say has disintegrated. Let our leaders do what they preach as demonstrated in the picture above. And the time is now when there is too much polarization in the country.
