GHANA HOCKEY GETS 10 MILLION CEDIS

The Vice President, Prof., John Atta Mills, has received a cheque for 10 million cedis on behalf of the Ghana Hockey Association. Making the presentation at the National Hockey Pitch in Accra, the Managing Director of the Social Security Bank Limited, Mr.. Kojo Thompson, said it is in fulfilment of a pledge made by the bank to sponsor an annual national tournament in memory of Mr.. K.N. Owusu, who spent part of his working life at the SSB, and also served in various capacities locally and internationally in the field of hockey. Dubbed the "K.N. Owusu Tournament," this year's competition, the second in the series, will take place in Accra from 2 December to 6 December. Eight teams are expected to compete. Social Security Bank will provide jerseys for the two finalists in the tournament. The Vice-President, expressed gratitude to the Management and staff of the bank and assured them that the money will be put to good use. End
