The battle of Ghanaâ's democratic dispensation has been drawn

The battle of Ghana's democratic dispensation has been drawn. Ghana today is experiencing the lapses within our democratic system which in my view will serve as a wakeup call for those responsible for drafting, reviewing, promulgating and certifying current Ghana’s simple majority presidential victory. A simple majority which disenfranchises eight regions with unique ethnic composition, a simple majority which also allows and will continue if nothing gets done sequester our young democracy to one ethnic or two regions because they are densely populated. Such a system is a recipe for chaos and ethnic tension.

Now my frustration is how could peace loving brothers and sisters in the Ashanti and Eastern region allows his honorable Nana Akuffo Addo and his cohort destroy the very democratic peaceful tenets and principles that brought the NPP to power in the first place? The Good loving, peaceful and respectable members in the NPP and distinguished fair minded citizens from Ashanti and Eastern Region should rebuke such despicable and dangerous act of his honorable Nana Akuffo and his cohorts for demonstrating their desire to rule the people of Ghana at all cost.

The actions demonstrated in this election by few dangerous elements like the woman in German who is married to a German at the same time dating a prominent member of the NPP foreign affairs. The refusal to concede made NPP and Kuffour Administration look like a bunch of dictators who hid behind civilian and democratic principles described by some authors as Eyadema/Mugabeism which ultimately is making Rawlings look like an angel and vindicated, a confirmation of Rawlings and Mills true love Ghana.

Rawlings and the NDC in the eyes of the world has become the true Democratic Party who did not pull any shenanigan when NPP won the 2000 and 2004 elections. Now the real test for the next parliament is how to correct this anomaly of one or two regions producing 49% electoral votes in a presidential election. Such undertaking must be approach with humility and respect for the opposition so as to have a comprehensive visitation of our electoral process.
