The era of power crisis

I woke up today and looked out the window heaving a sigh of relieve from my long night of constant tossing and turning.

The fresh breeze of the morning washed out the anguish I had felt the night before in my small apartment: which despite being adorned with electrical appliances, was a total waste... I ask myself, "why do we continue to wallow in darkness after almost 60 years of independence?"

Our "dumsoric" era has left us all desperate for a solution to our power crisis, yet we all strangely seem to be used to the darkness. Now, no one is really anxious when the lights go out, but we all celebrate with an "ei light ebaa oo" when the lights are back on.

We now embrace our social misfortune as part of our daily lives. I continue to ask, "who are we to blame for this? Will we ever have the pleasure of having uninterrupted power any time soon?" A mystery.

Perhaps we can now allay our fears with the arrival of the 225MW power barge from Turkey with the hope of uninterrupted power. But I still wonder: will this be any different from the 125MW Osagefo power barge we had some time back?

Now we are faced with the problem of an increase in tariffs which has been defended by some high ranking government officials. I wonder how many of us agree to these tariff hikes.

Dauntless of the fact that the average Ghanaian earns very little we still have to adhere to this directive by government.

Will this be the remedy to our problem or the catalyst for more to come. We pray for Ghana.
