Uncovering Nayele's "Powerful People" (she accompanied on foreign trips)
The lawyer for convicted drug courier, Nayele Ametefeh, is reported to have told the Isleworth Crown Court in the UK, on Tuesday, that his client has been backed by powerful people in society since 2004 but failed to mention names. He is also reported to have said that Nayele often accompanied some of these powerful people on foreign trips to provide 'companionship', except that she often travelled ahead of her companions.
Ghana as a whole is currently suffering reputational damage from Nayele's arrest, conviction and especially her claims to have been backed by powerful people since 2004 until her arrest. The government and the security agencies have a responsibility to the nation to unmask all the so-called powerful people. I would like to offer my layman's consultancy free of charge. Here's how to uncover at least those people she claims to have accompanied on foreign trips:
1. Using the immigration stamps in her passports, data from Ghana Immigration Service and passenger manifests from Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, compile a spreadsheet of all Nayele's foreign travels, especially date of travel, final destination and date of return to Ghana.
2. For each of her trips, obtain the manifests for her flight as well as all flights to that same destination 3 days before and after her outbound and inbound trips.
3. From the manifests, compile a list of all government officials who travelled to and from the same destination as Nayele, noting the duration of the trip and the date both Nayele and the officials returned to Ghana.
4. By the time you do this exercise for 10s of trips, a pattern should emerge where Nayele and the same 'powerful people' would have been travelling to similar destinations over the period she mentioned.
5. Further investigations can then be conducted into her dealings with those people.
For the sake of Ghana's international image and credibility, would somebody at National Security take up this simple task that shouldn't take more than 3 days, to uncover the so-called powerful people who backed Nayele?
