Soberly driving through the serene streets of Accra, the thought of the Ghanaian youth could not be ignored. The persistently glaring questions of what the future holds for us and how prepared we are.

We have pushed and tried through diverse means to make ends meet but many resort to letting in. Our entrepreneurial drives are collapsing.

We do not own political cards hence cannot survive the system. The muscles are strained the mind has over worked its limit. We give up.

We are the future leaders has become a myth. We are over 30 years and still at the mercy of the 67-year old men holding leadership positions. Are we really in the brackets of succession plan?

Many are reduced to crimes; robbery, fraud, blood money to survive. Can you judge them? Not at all, circumstances made them who they are.

No wonder many have resorted to politics, the perceived short route to riches. We become political muppets. We are moved around by the wicked schemes of the anti-patriotic politician.

We become whistle blowers. 'Sell-out' a brother to survive. Brothers with diverse political ideals are our enemies. We have multiple accounts on social media just to project and defend the wrongs of our political parties.

Our talent is insults, social media is our home. We cannot even engage in intellectual discourse on social media. The fear of being tagged an opposition.

To get your constructive criticisms across board, you have to disguise your identity.

Despite these political investments, many are neglected after their affiliate parties get the nod. For the few who are remembered "a bad system does not appear wrong to those who benefit from it. They do everything to defend it to the detriment of large society."

Impressive!

Election is beckoning and I wonder if the Ghanaian youth is discerning. Have we learnt from the past? Are we going to avail ourselves as tools for political violence? Is the worth of GHC¢500 than killing a brother?

My brothers and sisters it is time to channel that energy into building a future for our nation. We have to be objective, firm, assertive and not easily moved by money. Do not be gullible.

Have this in mind, the truth supersedes perspectives. A time to reckon is just at the corner.

Have Ghana at heart, be patriotic and work for its development. Your children deserve a better and functional Ghana.
