Ejura (Ash), May 30, GNA - Mr Issifu Mohammed Pangabu, Member of Parliament (MP) for Ejura-Sekyedumase, has expressed dissatisfaction about the low patronage of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) in the constituency.

He said out of a total of 46,000 registered people in the constituency, only 1,200 have so far paid about 80 million cedis in premiums towards the scheme.

Mr Pangabu, made this known in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Ejura at the weekend.

He appealed to the people to pay their premiums of 72,000 cedis per annum promptly to enable the scheme to take off. He asked the Ejura-Sekyedumase District Assembly and other stakeholders to intensify public education about the NHIS. Mr Pangabu suggested the need for agents recruited by the assembly to collect premiums from contributors to go from house-to-house to encourage more people to pay.
