Maritzburg chairman Farook Kadodia has revealed that he would have made a stupid decision if he had not triggered an extension in Richard Ofori's contract at the club.
The Black Stars goalkeeper had been a subject of multiple interest from clubs in the PSL and beyond with Orlando Pirates rumored to be the front runners to sign him.
This made Maritzburg trigger his contract extension by one year to ward off potential suitors.
Richard Ofori has been pivotal for the club this season, earning 10 clean sheets and pushing the club to 5th on the PSL table.
Kadodia said that the club had to show their appreciation for Ofori's brilliant performances.
"As a businessman, you have to take your options on a player like Ofori, if you don't do that then you are stupid," he told the Sowetan.
He added: "Ofori has been good to us since he arrived here and now we have shown our appreciation."
